Crouched Friars is a residential care home based in the heart of Colchester. We provide care for older people living with dementia in our home-away-from-home.

We are rated Good by CQC, and invite you to pop in for a cuppa and a chat any time.

Our residents absolutely loved the chance to cuddle and interact with this adorable furry friend.

Pet therapy always brings so much joy and comfort, and you can see the smiles it brought to everyone's faces!

Cancellation.
We hope everyone received and read our recent email regarding the cancellation of our annual BBQ garden party which was planned for today.
Please note it has been rescheduled for Saturday 23rd August.
Hopefully the weather will be kinder to us.

We had such a fantastic time last week with a brilliant performance from Tickled Pink Productions! 🎭

Their entertainers brought so much joy and patriotic spirit, getting everyone involved with Union Jack flags and wonderful interactions. It's moments like these that truly brighten our residents' days and create such a warm, lively atmosphere.

A huge thank you to Tickled Pink Productions for a truly memorable show! We're already looking forward to their next visit! ❤️🇬🇧

Last week, we shopped until we dropped!

Our wonderful staff, Paulina and Sharon, took Suzanne and Vera on a special shopping trip to Matalan! Everyone enjoyed browsing and finding some lovely items.

After all that retail therapy, a well-deserved treat was in order! We popped into Starbucks for a relaxing coffee and some lovely chats. As you can see, smiles were abundant.

It's these moments of joy and connection that truly make life special at Crouched Friars. We're already looking forward to our next adventure!

Holiday time at Crouched Friars 😎🏖️

We recently had a fantastic two-night break in a caravan with Suzanne, Vera and Bernie! Paul and Sharon also joined us for the day on Saturday and Sunday, making it even more special! 🥰

We truly made the most of our time, enjoying plenty of walks by the sea, trying our luck at the arcades and indulging in some delicious food and drinks out 🍹🍽️.

We even managed to squeeze in some swimming at the pool, played various board games and enjoyed a lovely time away. It was wonderful to spend quality time together and make some lovely memories

Our residents at Crouched Friars had a fabulous time today getting their nails done! There was so much joy and laughter as everyone enjoyed a bit of pampering and fresh manicures. Look at those happy faces and neat hands! 💅🏽

The sun's been shining and so were the residents' smiles as they indulged in some delightful ice creams! From classic cones to refreshing lollies, everyone found their favourite way to cool down and enjoy the beautiful weather🍦❤️

Pamper sessions, fresh hairstyles, and perfectly manicured nails – just a few of the ways residents are helped to look and feel their best! 💅🏼 ✨ It's always a joy to see those happy smiles after a little self-care.

Whether it's a fresh style, a trim for neatness, or a pop of colour on their nails, these moments of personal attention truly boost spirits and confidence. We love making sure everyone feels special and well-cared for!

It's wonderful to see so many of them enjoying a relaxing and productive time with their knitting. The focus and dedication, not to mention the beautiful creations taking shape, are truly inspiring!

It's moments like these, filled with companionship and creativity, that make our community so special. What a lovely way to spend the day.

Sometimes getting involved in housekeeping can bring back fond memories of being at home! 😇 We love hearing about residents' memories, good and bad, as we reminisce over past times.

Here, one of our lovely residents is helping out with folding laundry, and it's wonderful to see the joy and reflection it brings.

Spending time in the garden with our residents is always a pleasure. Simply having a cuppa and chat or joining in with the gardening always puts a big smile on everyone's faces.

Our team loves spending quality time with them. It really brightens their day, sparks some cracking conversations, and builds lovely bonds within our community. Our staff often hear some very funny stories as residents begin to trust and open up 😄

Here at Crouched Friars we provide an environment which provides guidance and support to maintain and enhance quality of life.

Ideally located in the heart of Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town, our sympathetically restored part Grade II listed home supports a small community of residents. Our priority is in delivering care that maintains the dignity and individuality of each person, providing both physical and mental stimulation for those with residential care needs.

Our facilities have been tastefully adapted to provide easy access for those with limited mobility, providing suitable wheelchair access along with a lift to all floors. All of our bedrooms have top of the range amenities to make sure residents are comfortable, including TV points, en-suite facilities and comfortable furnishings.

We work with residents and their families to create an individual care plan that will support the resident in continuing their happy and fulfilling life. Every day, carers spend time with residents to ensure they experience maximum physical and mental stimulation.
