Last week, as part of our activities for Remembrance Day, residents were eager to lend a hand as Sharon, our Activities Coordinator, led the making of a poppy wreath for the front door. ❤️
We have such a creative group of residents at our home and they did a fantastic job. The wreath looked beautiful and it was lovely to see everyone take pride in contributing to something so meaningful.

This Remembrance Sunday, we're honouring the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for our freedom. Our residents have been sharing their poignant memories and stories, reminding us of the profound impact of those who gave so much. We stand together, in solemn remembrance, ensuring their legacy lives on.

Did you know that jigsaw puzzles can:
🧩 Reduce stress
🧩 Improve cognitive function and memory
🧩 Maintain motor skills
🧩 Be a great excuse for a cuppa and a chat?
We love seeing our residents stay sharp, relaxed and connected - one puzzle piece at a time. 💛

We always have a blast at bingo! It's a fun way to keep minds engaged and excitement high.
Just don't show this to the grandkids, or they might be shouting '67' all day!

What a wonderful day in the kitchen! 🧑🍳 We had a fantastic time with some of our residents, measuring, mixing and rolling out dough to make some beautiful biscuits.
From carefully weighing the flour and butter to cutting out stars and flowers, everyone got involved and showed off their amazing baking skills! The smell in the home was absolutely delicious, and we can't wait to enjoy a well-deserved cup of tea with these tasty treats.
It's moments like these that make our care home feel so warm and happy. Baking is not only a fun activity, but it's also a great way to reminisce, practice motor skills and connect with friends.
Swipe to see a few snaps of our bakers in action and the lovely results! 📸

Crafting Joy at Crouched Friars! 🧵🌸
Our talented residents have been busy spreading cheer and creativity by making beautiful wreaths out of scrap fabric!
It’s amazing to see how they turn colourful offcuts into beautiful and vibrant decorations. This sustainable and fun activity isn't just about crafting; it’s about making new discoveries and unique creations (as our little sign says!), all while enjoying great company and conversation.
We love seeing the focus and the smiles on their faces as they work, and the results are absolutely stunning. A big well done to everyone involved!
Stay tuned to see more of our wonderful resident activities!

Here at Crouched Friars we provide an environment which provides guidance and support to maintain and enhance quality of life.
Ideally located in the heart of Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town, our sympathetically restored part Grade II listed home supports a small community of residents. Our priority is in delivering care that maintains the dignity and individuality of each person, providing both physical and mental stimulation for those with residential care needs.
Our facilities have been tastefully adapted to provide easy access for those with limited mobility, providing suitable wheelchair access along with a lift to all floors. All of our bedrooms have top of the range amenities to make sure residents are comfortable, including TV points, en-suite facilities and comfortable furnishings.
We work with residents and their families to create an individual care plan that will support the resident in continuing their happy and fulfilling life. Every day, carers spend time with residents to ensure they experience maximum physical and mental stimulation.
Whilst Crouched Friars is designed to be an independent setting for our Residents, the home is fully integrated with the local community. Residents often head out to the local shops, post office, library and the church as Crouched Friars is just a one minute stroll from the town centre shops and amenities.
While providing high-quality care is at the heart of what we do, it’s the personal and considerate delivery that makes us special.
