St. Valentine's Day celebrations with our regular singer Colin.
We had roses for all the ladies and dancing to music. Everyone had fun and full bellies. Love was in the air for sure as we had spouses visit and join us for the party! ❤️🥰❤️

We went to town, shopping. Nothing like a spot of retail therapy they say. We tested this theory out and they are right, it does help! 😁
Mavis and Sharon had a fantastic time.
We always try to take our residents out for coffee, hot chocolate, cake, a beer, a cocktail or even just a walk to the local corner shop!

❣️In readiness for St. Valentine's Day❣️ celebrations some of our Baking Club members helped Sharon create 3 fabulous cakes. They even made the cake topping decorations! Everything was homemade, the sponge cake, the icing and the toppings. Our club members sure know what they are doing. We can all agree the cakes turned out fabulous and they tasted so good!
A simple activity such as baking reminds us of what we once did back home and creates group conversations and brings back fun memories of family home.

At Crouched Friars we joined in with our wonderful residents in creating Valentine's cards and decorations for the St. Valentine's Day party. They thoroughly enjoyed helping Sharon and Chloè lay out the pretty tables for the special lunch. Activities which allow the residents to use their hands encourages movement and coordination.

Staff at Crouched Friars are always amazed at the level of help we are offered by our wonderful residents. They are happy to help out with laundry duties, office work, flower arranging, topping up glasses with water, gardening, even unravelling some knitting yarn. This may seem a simple tast to undertake but it adds value to their lives and provides a sense of worth and is great for their overall wellbeing.

Saturday afternoons are made for Movies & Treats and that is exactly what the doctor ordered! Well, that's what we like to think at Crouched Friars! Nothing like a cold beer or glass of wine, relaxation and a black and white movie. We managed 2 movies and more treats before teatime came around. A thoroughly great time was had by all. If you can't go out to the movies, bring the movies in with you! Cheers everyone and bottoms up!

Crouched Friars "Baking Club".
Sharon & Chloè recently each organised some baking activities for our residents. As you can see they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It's not just about mixing up ingredients, it encourages conversation, rekindles memories and even those who thought they couldn't bake, end up seeing their end product looking fantastic! 😁🏆
The best part is eating them at teatime ! 😇😁🎂

Here at Crouched Friars Chloè and Sharon take pride in looking after our wonderful residents' nails and hands. They regularly offer manicures and hand massages to anyone who wishes to have them. This simple treatment makes them feel special and cared for. They will admire their newly polished nails and even show them off to their family and friends. It's just another way of helping to keep their lives as "normal" as possible. A simple task that goes a long way in helping their well being. 😊

Mummies needed to attend first aid training today so we have looked after these two lovely girls in the office. We know it’s not always easy to find child care so we are always happy to do babysitting duties so our staff can attend important training.

Here at Crouched Friars Sharon and Chloè love to get our wonderful residents involved in allsorts of actitivities. Some love to make things, play cards, dominos and Scrabble. Some love to engage in 1-2-1 exercises which is both therapeutic and fun! Some love our beauty pampering sessions and others simply like to complete jigsaw puzzles and reading. Whatever they want and enjoy Chloè and Sharon are there to make it happen.

We've been busy with redecorating some of our rooms so it's been a little quiet on here however, we are back and here is a little catchup on one of our much loved festive activities. Our annual Christmas cake baking and decorating.
Here you can see some of our wonderful baking club members mix up the ingredients for the cake and some fairy cakes. We then covered the cakes with marzipan and icing.
The last step is to decorate the 2 Christmas cakes which Chloè and Sharon; our 2 activity coordinators had fun with. We chose a subtle and classy design.
Didn't they all do well!

A few more pictures capturing daily life in our wonderful home. Some of us love to read, some like to be pampered whilst others join in anything as they like being kept busy. There are many different activities available so everyone can choose how they wish to spend their day.

Here at Crouched Friars we provide an environment which provides guidance and support to maintain and enhance quality of life.
Ideally located in the heart of Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town, our sympathetically restored part Grade II listed home supports a small community of residents. Our priority is in delivering care that maintains the dignity and individuality of each person, providing both physical and mental stimulation for those with residential care needs.
Our facilities have been tastefully adapted to provide easy access for those with limited mobility, providing suitable wheelchair access along with a lift to all floors. All of our bedrooms have top of the range amenities to make sure residents are comfortable, including TV points, en-suite facilities and comfortable furnishings.
We work with residents and their families to create an individual care plan that will support the resident in continuing their happy and fulfilling life. Every day, carers spend time with residents to ensure they experience maximum physical and mental stimulation.
Whilst Crouched Friars is designed to be an independent setting for our Residents, the home is fully integrated with the local community. Residents often head out to the local shops, post office, library and the church as Crouched Friars is just a one minute stroll from the town centre shops and amenities.
While providing high-quality care is at the heart of what we do, it’s the personal and considerate delivery that makes us special.
