Sharon, Chloè and others love to join in with various activities during the week. Sometimes we play games, colour and draw, go shopping, learn to crochet, sit at the front and watch the world go by. It may be a small thing but it puts a big smile on everyone's faces!

Our Baking Club was in full swing recently when we made Easter cup nests. They were all enjoyed later on that day at teatime. 😁

Easter fun is when everyone receives a chocolate egg of their choice! Some didn't last very long at all. 😜

Gunni visited us this week and we had such a wonderful time. So many of our residents joined in with music, singing, dancing, exercise and laughter. It was an absolute pleasure to watch them all join in. Movement is so important to the older generation. As they say, if you don't use it, you'll lose it! 😁

Sharon & Chloè love to entertain residents with activities such as Scrabble, Dominos, colouring, crosswords, beauty therapy, baking and even shopping!
Keeping our wonderful residents happy and engaged is a priority at Crouched Friars.
We are happy to teach other staff how to play certain games too so they can join in. 😁

Chloè and Sharon love to take some of our wonderful residents out and about as often as the weather permits. Spring has proved to be quite warm so far so out we go! Sometimes it's shopping and sometimes it's a trip to the pub! Whatever we do everyone has a great time. It lifts spirits and puts a smile on everyone's faces for hours. Nothing like a little dose of vitamin D to make us all feel healthy! 🌞😊

Ron needed his hair and beard trimmed, but would only have it done at the barbers. We have found a nice place on Crouch Street ‘Icon Men’s Hair Design’ where Ron was treated with upmost respect and dignity and he enjoyed the experience. Now he looks 10 years younger. We are very lucky to be so close to the town centre to be able to access the community easily.

Going to the movies is always a fun way to spend a couple of hours so at our home we recreate that enjoyment. We watched an Elvis movie and an Elvis documentary this time. We had wine, treats and nibbles. It was so relaxing. It's a great way to wind down after a hectic day crafting and exercising!

There was exercise, music and fun at our home recently when Gunni paid us a visit. She knows how to make our residents smile and well as fit and healthy.
Keeping muscles strong and functional is crucial for longevity, metabolism and daily quality of life. Stronger muscles provide better stability and coordination, reducing the risk of falls and fractures in older adults.

Mother's Day celebrations were in full swing at our home last Sunday with residents and family members. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful afternoon tea which was followed with a little tipple! Needless to say all the mums felt loved and appreciated.

St. Valentine's Day celebrations with our regular singer Colin.
We had roses for all the ladies and dancing to music. Everyone had fun and full bellies. Love was in the air for sure as we had spouses visit and join us for the party! ❤️🥰❤️

We went to town, shopping. Nothing like a spot of retail therapy they say. We tested this theory out and they are right, it does help! 😁
Mavis and Sharon had a fantastic time.
We always try to take our residents out for coffee, hot chocolate, cake, a beer, a cocktail or even just a walk to the local corner shop!

Here at Crouched Friars we provide an environment which provides guidance and support to maintain and enhance quality of life.
Ideally located in the heart of Colchester, Britain’s oldest recorded town, our sympathetically restored part Grade II listed home supports a small community of residents. Our priority is in delivering care that maintains the dignity and individuality of each person, providing both physical and mental stimulation for those with residential care needs.
Our facilities have been tastefully adapted to provide easy access for those with limited mobility, providing suitable wheelchair access along with a lift to all floors. All of our bedrooms have top of the range amenities to make sure residents are comfortable, including TV points, en-suite facilities and comfortable furnishings.
We work with residents and their families to create an individual care plan that will support the resident in continuing their happy and fulfilling life. Every day, carers spend time with residents to ensure they experience maximum physical and mental stimulation.
Whilst Crouched Friars is designed to be an independent setting for our Residents, the home is fully integrated with the local community. Residents often head out to the local shops, post office, library and the church as Crouched Friars is just a one minute stroll from the town centre shops and amenities.
While providing high-quality care is at the heart of what we do, it’s the personal and considerate delivery that makes us special.
