Crouched Friars is a residential care home based in the heart of Colchester. We provide care for older people living with dementia in our home-away-from-home.

We are rated Good by CQC, and invite you to pop in for a cuppa and a chat any time.

Time to get creative! 🎨

Our residents had a fantastic time today getting stuck into some watercolour painting.

It's amazing to see the concentration and talent on display as they bring their blank canvases to life. Whether it was painting intricate designs or just having fun with colours, everyone's inner artist was shining through. 🧑🏼🎨

We had a wonderful pampering session with manicures. There's nothing quite like a fresh set of nails to lift the spirits and add a little relaxation to the day.

There's nothing quite like a refreshing drink and good company on a sunny day. Everyone had a wonderful time soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying a proper pub experience. It's these special moments that truly brighten our days!

Huge congratulations to our very own dominoes champion, Alfie! He retains his unbeaten streak! 🏆 What a brilliant game he played, and clearly, he was thrilled with his win!

You can see from these photos just how much fun Alfie had, clapping and giving us a big thumbs-up for his victory! It's always wonderful to see such joy and engagement during our activities.

Our weekly knitting club is always a favourite with our ladies. Here they are knitting up some lovely handmade gifts for some lucky recipients! 🥰🧶

What a lovely day! Sharon and Bernie took a trip to our local pub, The Hospital Arms. The landlord was so helpful, making sure we had shade from the sun as it was absolutely boiling hot! Perfect weather for an ice-cold lager! 😊 🍺

Our Arts & Crafts Club members have been busy making beautiful flower bunting for our annual garden BBQ on August 23rd! They will be hung all around the garden and I'm sure they will add to the "Flower Power" theme. 🌼

It's wonderful to see everyone's creativity and hard work come to life. The finished decorations are going to look fantastic!

It's always a pleasure to have Vera's helping hands in the kitchen! Today she was a star, helping make delicious white chocolate rice crispy cakes for tea time. She loves to be kept busy, and we love having her help! 👩🏼🍳

Our facilities have been tastefully adapted to provide easy access for those with limited mobility, providing suitable wheelchair access along with a lift to all floors. All of our bedrooms have top of the range amenities to make sure residents are comfortable, including TV points, en-suite facilities and comfortable furnishings.

We work with residents and their families to create an individual care plan that will support the resident in continuing their happy and fulfilling life. Every day, carers spend time with residents to ensure they experience maximum physical and mental stimulation.
