When we relax, our stress response shifts.

Good quality, deep relaxation encourages our bodies to switch from 'fight or flight' (survival mode) to 'rest and digest' activating the parasympathetic nervous system.

Hey November 👋🏻

As we race towards the end of the year, colder weather and the darker days, it can really effect our mood and energy levels.

This makes it even more important to carve out some time for ourselves and put it in the diary now!

As life gets busier, and the days feel shorter, time to ourselves tends to be the first thing we let go of.

I'm practicing what I preach this year and already have time for my own wellbeing (including reflexology and reiki) booked in right up to the end of the year.

The diary is always open guys so get the things that are important to you organised ✏️📅

I have been part of the voluntary complimentary therapy team for 3 years now. Here's some of the things I've learnt...

🧡 A positive mindset is everything

I have met lots of people during my time at the Hospice at various stages of their journey with incurable illness, and one thing that continues to amaze me is how positive and grateful everyone is. Through the good days and bad, patients have an incredible mindset choosing to be positive, grateful and resilient. I am absolutely convinced this makes a difference to their prognosis and quality of life.

🧡 Time is priceless

Time is probably the only thing left in this world that we can't buy more of - but we can create more time by spending it wisely. I'm yet to meet anyone who wishes they'd spent more hours at work or bought more handbags. Its taught me to use my time and energy wisely - and not sweat the small stuff!

🧡 The focus of Hospice care is on Living

There's a misconception that Hospice's are sad places where we go to die. The Hospice is absolutely there to support patients and their families at the end of life. Whether that be as an inpatient or at home. But there's so much more to it than that. I have given treatments to patients whilst their dog sits on their lap, and to family members next to their loved ones bedside. I've seen patients get married, have valuable time with their children and enjoy days out all with the love, care and support of the Hospice staff. Nothing is too much trouble, and I mean nothing!

Whilst there are some tears (usually mine!) these are far outweighed by the satisfaction it brings to know you've helped someone feel better... even if its just for an hour ✨️

This week marks 3 years of Reflex & Flow, so it felt like a good time to re-introduce myself to anyone that might be new here 👋🏻

Thank you to all my lovely clients... whether I see you once a week, once a month, or whenever you can fit in a little time for yourself... I appreciate you all 🙏🏻

Feeling very grateful that I get to do what I love everyday and call it 'work' 🤍

Postpartum Selfcare

I had a little visitor today 👣

This lovely Mumma had Reflexology treatments with me all the way through her pregnancy, so it was lovely to have her back in today for some postpartum self care and to meet this little one 🩵

There are many benefits of having Reflexology when you're a new mum. These include (but are not limited to):

I did it!! 🏃🏼‍♀️

I set myself a personal challenge at the start of summer to complete

I've never been a runner. I'm fairly active day to day, but I probably haven't done any actual running since I was at school, so I really was starting from the couch 😆

Its taken me a little longer than 9 weeks as I picked up an ankle injury the week before my holiday with just 1 run remaining.

Today I completed my final run after nearly a 4 week break.

I need to speed up a bit to hit 5K, but the primary goal of the programme is to run continously for 30 minutes so I'm going to take it as a win! 🌟

I chose to do my final run on a treadmill as I didn't want to be 2/3 miles from home if my ankle decided to give up on me. I've mostly been running outside which I've really enjoyed.

I'm still not sure I'd class myself as a 'runner' but I've enjoyed the challenge of the programme and would highly recommend it if you would like to start running or get back into running after a break or injury.

Now to decide if I set myself another running goal or choose something different 🤔

It's been such a busy start to the month, I forgot to welcome it in!

I may have mentioned it once or twice, but just to remind you, I am on holiday from Saturday 9th to Wednesday 20th of August.

I am fully booked this week and my diary for the remainder of August is filling up fast.
