A huge thank you 💚 to everyone who attended the Jane Eyre performance (80+) by This Is My Theatre.
We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

🪻 Spring is in the air at Hillhouse Wood! 🪻

Join us this Saturday, 25th April, for our annual Spring Flower Walk. This is a wonderful chance to see the woods in their full seasonal glory, from the iconic bluebell carpets to early nightingales.

Don't forget to stop by the Friends of Hillhouse Wood Information Point at the church to collect your maps and nature guides. Stout boots are recommended for the paths!

This performance will take place indoors.

Note: Many of our historic venues are without heating and can therefore be cold in all seasons so please dress warmly.

Doors Open from: 6.30pm

Running time: Approximately 85 minutes

Parking: Free parking is available at the venue.

Seating Provided: Yes. Seating is on church pews so please do feel free to bring a cushion.

Food and Drink: Refreshments will be served before the performance.

Dogs: No dogs other than guide dogs will be admitted to this performance.

Wheelchair User Access: This venue is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. If you have any access requirements before your visit, please contact the Box Office via email or phone (07981 227790) ahead of the performance date.

Please be reminded that tickets are still available for the professional theatre production of Jane Eyre, taking place at St. Mary’s Old Church on Thursday, 9th April at 7pm. Tickets are priced at £16, with concessions available, and can be purchased via the attached link. We are pleased to announce that the first event this year at St. Mary’s Old Church is a professional theatre production of Jane Eyre, which will take place on Thursday 9th April at 7pm.

We have experienced a productive and eventful year thus far, though it was sadly marked by the unexpected passing of our Founder and Chairman, Martin Long, whose leadership will be profoundly missed.
As many of you know—and several of you attended—we hosted a number of noteworthy events this year, including expert-led presentations on a 16th Century Essex witch trial and the Roman excavations at the Old County Hospital site.
In July, students from Heathlands School visited the historic old church, and the Resonate Choir delivered another outstanding performance to an appreciative audience.
Additionally, we are launching a new website in early 2026; further details will be provided in due course.
