Sorry, but this HAS to be said:
May I please remind my customers that even if i love my job, I do my job to make a living and need my takings to pay my bills and run my business helping you, my clients , when you are in pain or in need of relaxation ,away from your busy lives.
I had now quite a few scenarios lately, where people really urge me for appointments ( sometimes ring me late evenings or leaving me messages at really late night) because they are in pain or other desperate situations/ crisis.
I then often then work overtime or give up my free time to help.
However then, find the same client cancelling a further appointment on last minute or JUST about on the dot 24hrs before( I had even someone cancelling an hour before treatment !) or 24hrs before treatment on a Sunday ( even telling me that they forgot to ring me last week) when other clients cannot make childcare or work arrangements for a Monday morning appointment, that suddenly got available.
I then on top have to remind later for payments of cancellation fees, sometimes have to even be confronted to argue with the client WHY I ask for cancellation fees...(?!)
PLEASE: be courtious and help me help YOU: Give me more than 24hrs if you know you have been ill in last two days, please reschedule your shopping trip for either another day or after the treatment, please don't cancel on the day because your back " will be ok" when I specifically said you will need a follow up because 1 session will not be enough because of certain problem ( and then you urge me a week later- the pain was really bad again and you NEED to see me!)
AND please be more mindful in keeping an eye on your calendar: I am really sad when a fairly regular client does not turn up and after repeated ' offences' still tries to laugh it off, because she forgot and went golfing instead ( or even went on holiday without cancelling)
I am the last person to "upsell" treatments and try to be fair..I just wish that some clients would treat me with that respect and fairness too.
I first struggle to give people appointments, because book is full and suddenly people drop out for totally avoidable reasons and i am left with an empty treatment room on the day and struggle to pay bills and leave disappointed clients 'stranded' who really wanted my treatment and go elsewhere.
