Today is West Mersea Regatta! Lots of fun, stalls, watersports, food and music.. and seated massage from Mersea Bliss!

Many know me "only" as a massage therapist, but I grew up in a family and a surrounding of health people from whom I learnt so many things to heal through natural remedies and live a more natural kind way to prevent illnesses to my body.

It has irked me over the last years more and more of rising numbers of food intolerance or full blown allergies... but see so many people losing basic information of our ancestors how to strengthen our immune system from the cradle to high age... which with with small changes in choices of our foods could make a huge difference

Who else suffers when the sun comes out ...white skin, burns red... peels to expose whitish skin again...even with high SPF suffering from itchy, prickly heat...? Sounds familiar?? Up to a bit over 10 years ago, that was me. Every summer from childhood on, I knew that I could try every suncream/Lotion under the sun ( literally) and still burn or suffer with my skin.

New Years Eve... this year I took time for reflection, taking stock of the memories of 2024 ...and even though I had to make tough decisions, as it has been financially quite a roller coaster ...I feel lucky and grateful for the things and good people I have around me.

To my clients, I have known so many of you for quite a few years now ... thank you for letting me look after you and your family members and friends and that you have supported my little business, which keeps my roof over the head and food on the table!

It's been a tough year, but I am so grateful that I was able to help so many lovely clients getting mobilised and pain free again! Preparing for sports events ( and aftercare) , helping through difficult life and work events when the mind and body were not in synch and knowing that sometimes it's just necessary to take out time from every day life and reset the batteries..
Thank you for your trust and allowing me to follow your progression.

Have you considered getting your work and lifestyle into better balance with help of regular therapeutic and physio orientated massage?

Strenuous physical work, highly strained mental work, jobs that put a lot of pressure on the body or if you have huge responsibilities for others can be draining on the body. Tensions can lead to headaches or other side effects like IBS , exhaustion, burnout or similar..

Regular massage sessions can boost your immunity, let you sleep easier, can help combating body and mind stress situations at work or otherwise better. I can give you tips to improve workspaces, breathing techniques to help with stress situations and other useful guidance.

But also high impact sports can cause injuries, if the muscles are not looked after regularly. Smaller injuries have a much quicker healing time if the muscles are regularly cleared of lactic acid. Mobility can increase considerably too!

Lately I got told from a few clients or acquaintances that I have "easy hours"starting at 10am and scheduling my regular times " only" til 5-6pm

Mostly mentioned by people who work as employees and can leave work at 5 or 6 or by those who are fortunate enough not having to work for a living...and go about their social lives or just put up their feet when they get home or plan a paid holiday.

I think I want to speak for various people who are self employed, sole traders that try to keep costs down and not have to pay others for additional chores that are needed to be done - no receptionists, laundry people or cleaners... there is ALWAYS more work going on behind the scenes.

As example, my time "outside my client hours" is filled with:

-Cleaning the room and bathroom( floors and worktops, sinks)
-Making sure enough stock,( maybe putting orders in)
-Answering enquiries, rescheduling clients if they cannot keep the scheduled appointment ( illness, work shift pattern changes..)
- washing/drying towels and sheets, folding them by size and putting away neatly in cabinets, to find right sizes quickly
- making sure client records are alphabetically safely locked away/ sorting client records out for next day
- in the morning setting up client list
- dealing with last minute cancellations/ ringing clients to change their times and hoping not too much financial loss for that day
-answering enquiries that were sent in the previous night ( yes some leave messages or try to even ring past 10pm!)
And then trying to keep up with banking and paying bills for business.

This is all without the daily chores of housework, shopping and cooking and paying home bills.

I am not the exception.. a lot of self employed people who give services to others do it for the passion of their job and try make a living whilst making it SEEM to you as customer as effortless ...whether it's in beauty, hospitality, health care or even other single trades people.

Be kind and thoughtful before saying they have it 'easy'.

Important reminder post as of every year:

Important for every client who has been scheduled a treatment with me:

There should be a MINIMUM of 5 days between a JAB ( immunisation) that strengthens your immune system against viruses or other illnesses before any massage treatment. ( no matter if flu, Covid, RV or other jabs)

This is to leave your immune system alone to focus on making enough antibodies and be effective if infections are going round.
A massage COULD disturb this process whilst releasing other toxins in your muscle tissue.

I shall from now on ask for full payment if I dont get 24hr notice having to cancel a session.
Same cancellation fee applies if someone turns up with a cold OR other infections as its YOUR health I am looking after, not worried about mine..

ALSO: in November, December and January I am asking for 48hrs cancellation notice. It has gradually slipped in that clients who had serious illnesses even only 3 days before or planned outings a week before or similar, but gave me no heads up until waiting for exactly 24hrs before scheduled appointment, to then cancel me.

I am sorry to have to be so strict, but I have been turning potential clients away, who are left in pain and I have been lately then left on some days with several cancellations a day ( despite my message) that could have been filled and left me with no income.

I hope for understanding.
