Welcome to The Oaks Care Home's page. We are located in Colchester, Essex. The Oaks has a beautifully decorated and homely feel.

The Oaks care home in Colchester provides expert, warm, person-centred care for up to 61 older people who require dementia, nursing or residential support. There’s always a full diary of fun social events and activities, thanks to our dedicated activities co-ordinators. Mealtimes are carefully planned with delicious, fresh food cooked on-site and our fully trained, friendly team of carers and nurses are on hand 24/7, whenever needed. The home is spacious and with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, bedrooms are beautifully decorated, while the coffee lounge, cinema lounge and open-plan dining room offer the perfect place for you to relax or socialise in. We have the added benefit of being surrounded by large gardens and well-manicured lawns, which were created by award winning gardener, author and lecturer, Beth Chatto.

🎉 The party was a success! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who turned up, and to all those who helped put everything together!

It was a lovely way to showcase the new decking in Emerald House, in dedication to one of our much missed residents, Martin. This wouldn't be possible without the amazing donation that Martin's family made in his name to help improve the unit, and so we are eternally thankful to you as well!

It was also to signify the official opening of The Oaks Care Home once again!

We got together and searched the home for some Sherlock-themed clues before ending our trip with a drink and some Sinatra in the coffee lounge

We could not be more proud of the work we have managed to accomplish in the last several months here at The Oaks Care Home!

It just goes to show that hard work really does pay off! Thank you to each and every member of staff, we could not have done it without you! ⭐

🏆 On Thursday, we Bingo 🍫

After a morning spent playing Whack-A-Mole, we settled in for some friendly competition (and prizes)! We always have a laugh when we Bingo!

A look back on our July here at The Oaks Care Home...

Along with our regular Café and Pub visits, we have also had our Summer BBQ (even though it rained on the day), and lots of time spent together!

Here's to August, and all the excitement we have in store!

🐐 The cuddliest afternoon 🐐

Today we had the pleasure of being visited by Blackwater Alpacas & Pygmy Goats! They brought in 6 of this season's kids, one of them as young as a week old!

We all enjoyed holding and hugging them while we learned about the service and how the pygmy goats lived on the farm before moving on to other homes!

Thank you so much for coming, we hope to see you again soon!

🍪 Decorating biscuits for Space Day ☄️

Here at The Oaks we have been putting more of our time into broadening our baking experiences. So far we have made cupcakes, brownies, cookies, biscuits, and gingerbread!

On this occasion, we decided to decorate some all-butter shortbread with some marbling to make them look like multicoloured planets!

We're looking for more ideas on allergen free options that we can make to share with everyone in the home, do you have any suggestions?

🌴🥥 Our Hawaiian Party was a blast! 🥥🌴

Everyone had a tropical day here at The Oaks, dressed in leis and with our tiki drinks, singing our hearts out with family and friends!

Thank you to everyone who took part and made the day a true welcome to summer!

👋 Saying so long to our Scarecrow project 👋

Jericho is off to Great Horkesley for his debut in the Friends of BWW Events Scarecrow Trail!
We've raised him from bits and bobs, recycling, upcycling and using good old trial and error, and he has blossomed into *almost* a member of the home!

Thank you to our deputy, who happily agreed to having his car filled with straw so we could get Jericho to the trail 🥇

We already can't wait to have him back again...
