Next week, on September 22nd, it is World Car Free Day, a global event where towns and cities invite people to enjoy streets without motor traffic, while still supporting those who need private vehicles for health or mobility reasons.
It’s the perfect opportunity to reimagine our streets as places designed for people. So, how can we all make a difference?
Pop-up parks, also known as parklets, transform streets into spaces for people, not just cars, offering seating, cycle parking, gardens, play areas, or art. They’re great for community life and accessibility. With council permission and a bit of teamwork, anyone can create one.

Join the five-day walking challenge to cut school-run traffic!
