Let's face it there are soooooooooooo many tools available to help with anxiety but for many of us we simply reject them with our own thought processes:

'I don't have time' or 'That won't help me!'

But what have you got to lose - if you can spend a few minutes a day doing something for yourself or something to reset your nervous system, you can make all the difference!

As a therapist it feels like I am not really allowed to say it...but you are allowed to feel how you feel even if it isn...

As a therapist it feels like I am not really allowed to say it...but you are allowed to feel how you feel even if it isn't happy!! There is a lot to be said for positive thinking and I am a huge believer in positive self-talk, affirmation and visualisations but not if it means ignoring how you really feel.

Everything happens for a reason? Maybe, but some things are just sh*t. And that is OKAY! Let yourself feel how you need and once you begin to process your feels THEN you can focus on how to move forward in the situation, not how to ignore or it cover it with sprinkles of positive thinking or cliches!

I constantly catch myself saying 'I don't have enough time' or 'I can't do it.'

➡️This leads straight to a cycle of anxiety.

90% of clients I work with have an underlying thought process that revolves around not being good enough, which is an absolute lie. If you are already lying to yourself pick a lie that works better for you. It won't take long before that 'lie' becomes your reality.

Let's talk cuddles! ❤️

Whether it's babies, pets or grown ups...hugs help to reduce stress, boost mood and improve relationships.

This morning has been a particularly anxious one for a number of reasons. I've now finished some work for the day so I've changed my plans (lots to do around the house but all stuff that doesn't need to be priority) and instead I'm enjoying some serious cuddles with my youngest and I can feel the anxiety shifting!

Don't forget sometimes something as simple as a hug can go a long long way to helping you feel calmer and more positive.

Today I woke up feeling anxious, mainly about how much I told myself I had to get done today. I felt a little too much...

So I looked at my list, decided what actually had to be done (some bits the kids, paperwork for solicitors and a couple of emails) and the rest, I decided could wait.
I went to the gym to run off some of that anxiety and nervous energy and then went for a walk out in nature. I am not the most outdoorsy person but taking the time to prioritise myself and enjoy some nature was the most productive thing I could have done today 🖤

Why do we always punish ourselves for not getting enough done?! Than that dreaded feeling that it is because we are not good enough kicks in.
Well none if this is actually true!!

We tend to have an idea of what we want to achieve, regardless of how realistic it is. Whether you are busy with the kids or work, or you just don't feel up to it...whatever you have achieved is enough!

I love a good to do list but I make sure to add stuff I know I will do regardless (take the kids to school, cook dinner etc) because then I can tick something off and remind myself at the end of each day, I have achieved something...and even if I didn't, that is ok too! No one can decide what you SHOULD do except you. Instead ask yourself what you WANT to do 🖤

I am sure I say this about all my testimonials but this one felt really special.
Starting therapy can feel really hard. It isn't easy to acknowledge our anxiety to ourselves at times, let alone a stranger!

But these things are usually much scarier in our minds then they are in reality. Starting to get support with anxiety, yes can feel scary, but can also help you to feel a sense of ease and calm in your mind and in everyday life.

Daily affirmations do not, in my opinion, get enough credit.
A lot of people I work with feel uncomfortable when they start affirmations....and that is simply a sign they need to be done!

We often tell ourselves things we do not believe and that sits uncomfortably with us. But when we continue to tell ourselves the negative things that aren't true just because we believe them, isn't beneficial either.

Yes, telling yourself things you do not believe will feel as comfortable as telling yourself elephants are green but once you start to tell yourself the right things, over and over eventually your subconscious will take it on board, believe the positive and reframe those negative thoughts 🖤

Your brain is an amazing thing. But it doesn't have the ability to tell the difference between real or imaginary. So whether you are thinking about your present situation or you are thinking about a terrifying scenario that could possibly happen in the future, you body will believe it to be true.
Be mindful of what you are putting your body through!
Positive thinking may be not a quick, easy fix but if you want to take control of your anxiety, then reframing your thought process is absolutely the place to start!!!

If I can sum up anxiety in one simple sentence....

"Thoughts lead to feelings, feelings lead to actions and actions lead straight back to round to thoughts!"

IT ALL STARTS WITH THE THOUGHTS 🤔

If you tell yourself something is too much or too scary, you are likely to feel anxious, you then avoid the situation that you have told yourself is too scary. Once you feel the relief in anxiety through avoiding a situation, it creates a loop cycle back to your mind that says that was the right thing to do, creating more anxiety the next time you are faced with a similar situation.

If your inner thoughts are negatively impacting you, it's time to change you what you are telling yourself!
When you are not happy with how you are feeling, or even how you are behaving, you could really benefit at looking deeply, even subconsciously, at how you are thinking and what you are telling yourself.
What do you need to hear instead? You are the one only one who can truly change how you talk to yourself 🖤

My Story

I trained to become a psychotherapist back in 2015 and found hypnotherapy along the way. Once I saw how hypnotherapy works to help change peoples lives, I knew I had to include it in what I do. I know work with both psychotherapy and hypnotherapy and often use them together.

Hypnotherapy is designed to work with your subconscious in order to help deal with issues such as anxiety, stress, weight loss, phobias and smoking. I like to work closely with clients in order to make their sessions bespoke individual needs.

I also work with businesses to help them ensure that they have the best corporate well-being programme for them in place. Within the corporate sector, I also offer workshops and private therapy sessions.
