Oaks Hospital is one of Essex's leading private hospitals with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality private hospital treatments and services. Located on the outskirts of Colchester, the hospital opened on this site in 1994 and currently has 57 bedrooms including three twin-bedded rooms all with en-suite facilities to ensure complete privacy throughout your stay. Staff are friendly and professional and respect individual patient needs at all times. Oaks Hospital has a tradition of working closely with Consultants and patients to ensure the best quality healthcare is consistently being delivered. All Consultants undergo rigorous vetting procedures, ensuring only those who are qualified and experienced are granted practising privileges which are reviewed on a regular basis. 👏 Congratulations to Mel on raising an incredible £985!!! 👏

Yesterday, Mel from our Outpatient Department was raising awareness for Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) The Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation, Inc. A huge thanks to Mel, a dedicated Staff Nurse here at Oaks Hospital, for her incredible efforts in promoting awareness. In 2008, Mel tragically lost her father to a genetic form of CJD, and in July 2024, her eldest brother, Matthew, was diagnosed with the same disease. Sadly, Matthew lost his battle at the end of last year.
To honour her family's struggle and raise further awareness, Mel will be undertaking a significant challenge next year.

Thank you to everyone who supported Mel and her raffle to benefit CJD research. We are thrilled to announce that they raised an impressive £985, which will go directly to the Prion Clinic at UCL. This funding will contribute to their ongoing and essential research aimed at finding a cure or at least a treatment for this devastating disease.

Oaks Hospital Celebrating World Radiography Day 2025.

Radiology Appreciation Day is celebrated as International Day of Radiology on November 8th annually, marking the anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen's discovery of X-rays in 1895. It is a day to honour the contributions of radiologists and radiologic technologists and to raise public awareness of medical imaging's vital role in healthcare for diagnosis and treatment.

Today, we thank our Imaging Department at Oaks Hospital for their expert knowledge and compassion shown towards our patients day in and day out. Thank you for all that you do ☠️💀

Earlier this week, a few of our theatre team from Oaks Hospital attended the Annual Scientific Meeting, supported by the UK & Ireland's Association of Laproscopic Surgeons (ALSGBI) and the ICENI Centre, which was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel London Stansted Airport. The local congress organisers include Professor Bijen Patel and our very own consultant Prof. Tan Arulampalam.

The theme for this year is 'Technology and Innovation for Patient Safety,' featuring focused educational videos alongside the experiences and debates fostered by key opinion leaders who are experienced surgeons in their fields.

The ALSGBI was proud to host the British Hernia Society (BHS) in a collaborative effort aimed at enhancing training opportunities. The BHS kindly agreed to deliver a technical session that strengthens the relationship between the two organisations and raises the standards of hernia surgery. This session included technical training through video analysis, as well as discussions and debates about the latest innovations.
