A post to introduce myself as is been a while!

I’m Niki, a local mum and owner of Niki Rajput Family Osteopath. I’ve been an osteopath for over 10 years now, qualifying at the British School of Osteopathy. Prior to that i’ve worked in social services and in mental health so i’ve always had a career in helping people in some way.

I am a Cranial Osteopath and a member of the sutherland cranial college of osteopathy. Osteopaths are registered healthcare professionals and I use a wide variety of techniques for treatment not just cranial techniques.

I have a special interest in working with pregnant mums and babies and in particular babies that struggle with feeding and may have tongue tie, or birth trauma.

I’m very lucky to be a part of which includes a dream team of local businesses working with mums and babies, it’s so great to be able to recommend other local services or be able to say ‘i did this class with my babies…’

I often work with a mum throughout her pregnancy to ensure her body is at its best for birth. I love it when i get a text from a mum to say ‘Look who arrived’

I’m often seen jumping for joy when i get a text from a mum after a session with me to say ‘ she did a poo!’

I’m also often seen crying with a mum when she manages a comfortable feed for the the first time in my nursing chair after baby has had some cranial treatment to ease tension. I’ve been there and feel every emotion they feel in that moment with them…

First week back from summer holidays! this is my favourite corner of my room, many don’t know that this is actually my nursing chair, i’ve spent many nights struggling to feed, crying, holding a sick baby, laughing and being in awe of precious moments with my babies in that chair, so when i have a moment like yesterday when after some cranial treatment, a new mum and baby sit and feed comfortably for the first time since being born and mum cries, it’s why i also cry. i’m so lucky to be a part of that journey with you!!

Beautiful moment during this mum and baby double appointment today. Only a few weeks old and baby knows her safest place is with mummy, so they both had a cuddle while mum and some much needed treatment.

This is what my clinic room sometimes looks like at the end of the day! often the couch is a little too scary for some of the older babies so we get the play mat and toys out and get on the floor. they also come out when parents come in with their kids because they don’t have childcare. as a mum know how hard it is to fit it all in so i make my sessions as easy for families as i can.

and i’m off! all packed and ready for todays event! who’s coming? i have some goodies to give away

what’s different about this picture? no mask!!!! Osteopaths have had guidance that we can stop wearing masks for appointments. however I will continue to risk assess and have PPE available and will be asking at the door if you prefer that we wear one.

All ready for my last evening in clinic! Happy new year! sorry it’s been so quiet here, i had some time off over christmas and new year which was amazing, but like most people we also had a change in plans due to covid and spent a lot of it isolating. great to be back now and after a very busy first week back last week i’m feeling positive and excited for the year ahead! one big change is that after tonight I will no longer be offering appointments in the evenings. more day time slots are now available to book and i will be offering a few more Saturday mornings.
