We've finally got the new mats laid!

After a lot of hard graft, cutting and lugging around 20kg rubbers mats, we have finally laid every last one.

We're constantly finding way to invest, give back and provide our clients and patients with the best possible service. By ensuring the studio is in the best possible condition it could be, we're able to accommodate more people at our Mobility and Core Done Differently classes.

Not only are the classes led by highly qualified registered Health Care Professionals and Sports Therapist, they're highly competitive on price.

Join us on Saturday for our Mobility Done Differently class where pur osteopath helps improve your mobility, but where we come together as a community afterwards for a tea, coffee and pastry.

Unity would like to welcome home our Director of Marketing & Strategy, Jonathan. Jonathan is an Army Reservist serving with 36 Signal Squadron, 71st (City of London) Signal Regiment and has just completed a 6 month deployment to British Forces South Atlantic Islands (BFSAI).

Working alongside his regular counterparts in the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, Jonathan was part of RADCON which delivers TacCIS and OpCIS to British Forces and supports the Falkland Island Government (FIG) providing secure radio communications during major incidents.

Of his deployment, Jonathan said "My deployment to BFSAI was one of the best experiences of my military career. Being able to work alongside my regular counterparts, such as the Parachute Regiment and HMS Forth, providing real world value, was such a privilege. Putting the skills I had trained for into use in such an arduous, albeit breathtakingly beautiful part of the world, was extremely rewarding and watching typhoons passby overhead on my 36th birthday will always be a memory I'll cherish. That being said, I am excited to get back home and to see all of my colleagued at Unity. I look forward to getting stuck in and taking the company to new heights."

From everyone at Unity, welcome home Jonathan.

Unity's Approach to rehabilitation, sports therapy and osteopathy.

-Comprehensive Assessment
Every session begins with orthopaedic and functional testing. We analyse movement, load tolerance, and structure always linking findings back to the osteopathic principles.

-Principle-Led Reasoning
We interpret what we see through the lens of structure function relationships and the body’s innate capacity to heal, ensuring our treatment supports adaptation, not dependency.

-Movement-Based Rehabilitation
We use movement as medicine progressive, structured, and intentional. By restoring strength, control, and confidence, we help the body truly self-regulate again.

-Integration with Performance
We bridge healthcare and the gym. Our approach lives in both worlds using load, resistance, and functional movement to create real, sustainable change.

-Ongoing Re-Evaluation
We don’t treat the same thing each week. We assess, re-test, and progress making sure every step is measurable and meaningful.

Why Osteopathy Done Differently Is Different:

We prioritise principles over methods; everything is reasoned, not routine. We combine orthopaedic and functional assessment with osteopathic philosophy, sports therapy and injury rehabilitation.

We integrate rehabilitation and strength-based movement into every stage of recovery and aim for self-regulation and resilience, not repeated dependence on treatment. We view the body as a dynamic, adaptive system, not a collection of symptoms.

We bridge clinical care and performance, helping people move from pain to potential.

Traditional Osteopathic Methods

Traditional osteopathy has historically focused on manual therapy using joint manipulation, soft tissue work, and cranial or visceral techniques to relieve pain and restore mobility.

While valuable, these methods can sometimes become technique-driven rather than principle-led. Treatment can lean towards short-term relief, focusing on what is being done rather than why it’s being done often resulting in patients feeling better temporarily, but not necessarily more resilient in the long run.

Osteopathy Done Differently

At Unity, we take osteopathy back to its roots where principles guide every decision.
We blend those principles with modern rehabilitation science to create long-term, life-changing outcomes.

We don’t rely on guesswork or “throwing spaghetti at the wall.” We rely on assessment, reasoning, and movement using the same principles that underpin osteopathy to help people restore, rebuild, and perform.

Even more deliveries! We do love a delivery, especially when it is for equipment to provide the best possible service for our clients, patients and community.

We the overwhelming success of our Mobility & Core Done Differently classes, not only have we had to add more classes each week, buy 1000's of pounds worth of equipment, but we've had to increase the flooring space in our studio.

Previously, half of the studio was covered in these heavy due (we're not kidding, they weight 20kg each) gym mats, which we thought would be enough space for everyone attending... Turns out, it's not.

With anywhere between 15 - 20 people turning up for our Saturday class and staying for a coffee and pastry afterwards, we just simply needed more space!

Osteopathy vs. Osteopathy Done Differently

The Foundations of Osteopathy

Osteopathy was founded on four key principles not on specific techniques or methods.
At Unity Health & Performance, these principles guide everything we do:

1. The body is a unit.
Every system and structure in the body is connected physical, emotional, and functional. We treat the person, not the problem.

2. Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated.
How your body is built affects how it performs, and how you use it affects its structure. Improving one always influences the other.

3. The body possesses self-healing and self-regulating mechanisms.
True health comes from supporting the body’s natural capacity to adapt and restore balance not from constantly “fixing” it.

4. Treatment should be based on understanding and applying all these principles together.
Every assessment, every exercise, and every intervention should reflect the whole picture not just chase symptoms

Meet Ameila. When Amelia first came to Unity, she’d been living with lower back pain since 2018.
She’d tried everything injections, physiotherapy, chiropractic care, even surgery but nothing brought lasting relief. Her movement felt restricted, and she’d lost confidence in her back, always feeling like it might “go” again at any moment.

That started to change when she joined our Mobility Done Differently classes. Through guided movement, education, and support, Amelia began reconnecting with her body and building the confidence to move again safely and without fear.

She then began working one-to-one with Jessica through our Osteopathy Done Differently approach blending clinical reasoning, exercise rehabilitation, and progressive strength work tailored to her needs. She has worked with Jessica for less than 3 months. Over time, her range of motion returned, her pain resolved, and she started to feel strong and capable again.

Today, Amelia is back in the gym, moving freely and taking ownership of her health for the first time in years.

Her story is a powerful reminder that recovery is rarely linear but with the right support, education, and environment, long-term change is absolutely possible.

Meet Lawrence. When lawrence first came to a Mobility Done Differently, he didn't know it but that class would be thr start of an incredible journey for him.

Having seen some benefits from our class, Lawrence decided to undertake a 3 month plan with us, becoming one of our osteopathy patients. Suffering from poor mobility and back pain, he thought that was his life. He thought he would just have to put up with it a muddle through.

That's not the way we see it. Through our unique blend of clinically guided injury rehabilitation, mobility training and osteopathy, back pain is a thing of the past. Every day, we help treat people like Lawrence who think they just 'have to deal with it', meaning they can live a pay free life.

From being unable to touch his toes, living every day with back pain and not being able to undertake everyday activities, it's safe to say, Lawrence is now pain free and living the life he deserves.

Get in touch to find out how we can treat your chronic pain and mobility issues so you too, can live the life you deserve.

What is Sports Massage Therapy?
Sports massage therapy is a specialised form of manual soft tissue manipulation that benefits individuals engaged in regular physical activity by focusing on muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia to improve performance, prevent injuries, and aid in recovery

What is a Unity Recovery Session?
Our Recovery Session uses sports massage therapy techniques, movement assessment and sports therapy to target the root of pain and discomfort. It blends these techniques to reduce pain, inflammation, improve circulation and mobility. We all suffer from those little niggles, or aches and pains, making our Recovery Session perfect for anyone suffering from discomfort, or simply wants a bit of maintenance.
