🌺🌴 This afternoon we celebrated A Taste of Fiji and what a wonderful experience it was!

Our very own Abbi brought along a vibrant group of performers who filled the garden with energy, colour, and joy. The dancing and singing were absolutely fabulous, and it was so special to learn some fascinating facts about Fiji along the way 🇫🇯✨

Our very first Language Café was a great success, bringing everyone together to share culture, stories, and smiles. We’re already looking forward to next month as we explore and celebrate Nigeria 🌍💛

🌻 Sunflower Challenge 🌻

We are giving away sunflower seeds to spread some joy and happiness this summer.

Plant your seeds by late April and submit your photo entries, with your name, age, sunflower measurements and contact details by 31st August.

The lucky winners will be chosen by our residents and notified in September to collect their prize!

Categories include:
🌻The Tallest Sunflower
🌱The Smallest Sunflower
✨The Brightest Sunflower

We will have separate prizes for adults, children aged 6+ and little ones aged 0-5. Our challenge packs will be handed out to our community friends and partners, or you are welcome to collect one from our home reception team.

🌿✨ Wishes really did come true today for both Nia and Jill ✨🌿

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon at Beth Chatto Gardens, taking in the stunning scenery and exploring the wonderful variety of plants. Every corner brought something new to admire, from vibrant blooms to peaceful, tranquil spots 🌸

Yesterday afternoon we enjoyed a lovely messy vintage session led by Castle Methodist Church 🌼

Together we planted flowers in a special little garden created to represent the resurrection, complete with its own tiny cave. It was such a thoughtful and hands-on activity, bringing everyone together in a really meaningful way.

We then found the perfect spot in the garden to place it, where it can be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. A peaceful and creative afternoon all round 💛

We’ve had some very special new arrivals at Alderwood Care Home 🐣💛

Over the past week, our residents have been part of a truly heartwarming experience — watching our little ducklings grow from tiny eggs into fluffy bundles of joy! From the excitement of the first cracks in the shells to seeing them hatch and begin to explore the world, it’s been a journey full of smiles and wonder.

Our residents absolutely loved spending time with the ducklings, who made gentle visits to rooms and lounges, bringing happiness, laughter, and lots of “aww” moments along the way 🦆✨

And there’s a lovely happy ending too — one of our nurses fell completely in love with them and has now adopted the ducklings, so they’ll continue to be well cared for and cherished 💛

Experiences like this create such meaningful connections and lovely memories for everyone involved. We’re so grateful to have been able to share this special time together 💕

Today we celebrate a very special milestone… happy 106th birthday to our lovely Wanda 💐

Wanda has been part of the Alderwood family for around 15 years, and it was important to us that her day was marked in a gentle and meaningful way. This morning, she enjoyed a beautiful string duet played just for her, filling her room with music and calm. (Video in comments)

Later, Wanda was joined by her family for a quiet afternoon tea, sharing precious moments together. Our wonderful resident choir also popped in to sing to her, bringing smiles and a touch of joy to her day.

Wanda’s room is a reflection of a truly remarkable life, with her 100th birthday card from the Queen proudly displayed alongside cards from the King — a reminder of the many years and memories she holds.

A very special lady, and a privilege for us all to be part of her journey 🤍

🐣🎉 What a fantastic afternoon at our Easter children’s party!

The garden was full of laughter as the children enjoyed dancing, games and balloon modelling. It was heartwarming to see friends, families and residents all coming together to watch the fun unfold 💛

We even spotted a few grown-ups joining in too… proving you’re never too old to join the party! 🕺💃

Yesterday we enjoyed a wonderful BBQ in the garden, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect! ☀️🍔

With a magical Alice in Wonderland theme, the children had great fun taking part in an egg and spoon race along with a few other games led by the White Rabbit himself 🐰🎩

The afternoon continued with Mark entertaining us all with his fantastic golden oldies show – there was plenty of singing along and smiles all round!

A truly fantastic day filled with gorgeous food, laughter, and lovely memories. A big thank you to all the team for their help in making it such a success, and a special thank you to our amazing kitchen team for the delicious food 👏💛

What a beautiful day for some Easter fun! 🐣🌷

Our garden was full of smiles as we held our Easter egg hunt, with the Easter Bunny making a very special appearance! 🐰 The sun was shining, and it was lovely to see so many little ones and our residents out together, searching high and low for those tasty treats.

Laughter, teamwork, and a little bit of friendly competition made it such a special afternoon for everyone involved. A perfect way to celebrate Easter together! 🌼🍫
