🌸 This morning we welcomed our lovely florist, Sara, who treated us to a wonderful flower arranging demonstration 💐✨
After watching her work her magic, it was our turn to get hands-on – and everyone created their own beautiful little displays to take pride of place. 🌿🌷
These monthly sessions are always such a joy, and a lovely way to brighten up our home with colour and creativity. 💛

🍂 Autumn has well and truly arrived here at Alderwood 🍂
Yesterday we got crafty, heading out to collect colourful leaves and acorns. Back inside, we put our treasures to good use and made some cute little tealight holders 🕯️We can add them to our our autumn display in the home – a lovely seasonal touch created by our residents. 🍁🌰💛

Yesterday, we rolled up our sleeves for a crafty cooking session, baking delicious homemade shortbread biscuits together. The smell, the laughter, and of course, the taste — simply heartwarming! 🍪❤️

🎶 Today we had a fabulous outing to the ALB Festival! 🎶

Anne’s daughter and Betty’s daughter both played beautifully in the orchestra, and Betty’s son-in-law did a wonderful job conducting 👏. We all had such a great time, enjoyed a lovely drink and treated ourselves to some delicious waffles 🧇🍹.

It was extra special as we celebrated Sheila’s birthday 🎂🎉 — she came along, joined in the fun, and had a fantastic day too 💐💖.

A perfect day of music, treats, and celebrations. And thankfully we missed the rain 🌧️

🎉🎂 Today we celebrated the birthdays of our lovely Norma and Sheila! 💐✨

Both ladies enjoyed a special lunch with their families before we all came together for a little party. 🎶 Tony had everyone smiling and singing along with their favourite hits from Elvis and Neil Diamond – a wonderful way to mark such special days. 🥳💖

🌞 A Glorious Morning at Abberton Reservoir 🌿

We made the most of the beautiful sunshine today with a peaceful stroll at Abberton Reservoir. The autumn berries lining the path added a splash of colour, and the fresh air was just what we all needed. 🍁🫐
We took time to sit and soak in the views, watching the birds and gentle ripples across the water — a truly calming moment. The highlight? A majestic hawk hovered above us, giving everyone a real thrill! 🦅💛
Nature really does lift the spirits. 🦋

🎉💐 A very Happy 95th Birthday to our lovely Dot! 💐🎉

Dot has been part of the Alderwood family for 8 wonderful years and we all love her to bits. Over the weekend she enjoyed celebrating with her family, and today we held a little garden party in her honour. 🥳🌸

🌿 Making the Most of Late Summer in Our Garden 🌸🍂

As summer begins to wind down, we’re soaking up every last ray of sunshine in our beautiful garden! ☀️🌻

Residents have been enjoying the blooming flowers, admiring the late-summer colours, and spotting the fruits of the season. 🍎🌼

We’ve also brought a bit of the outdoors in — using leaves and petals for creative and calming craft sessions. It’s a lovely way to celebrate the changing seasons and keep hands and hearts busy. 🖌️🍁

Alderwood Care Home is now the front of shirt sponsor for Colchester United Women’s Football Team!

This partnership is especially close to our hearts, as our lovely Doris is such a big supporter of the girls and never missed a chance to cheer them on. It feels so special to continue that passion by backing the team in.

At Alderwood, being part of the community is so important to us. Supporting local clubs, schools, and charities helps us build connections that mean so much to our residents and families.

🌿🌸 On Sunday we took a trip to the BBC Gardeners’ World Fair at Audley End 🌸🌿

This special outing was a wish from our Wishing Tree ✨🌳 made by two of our lovely residents – and it came true! 💖

The day was filled with beautiful gardens, fantastic stalls, and plenty of local produce to sample 🍯🧀🥖. The moonshine tasting went down a treat and was especially popular with the ladies 😉🥂.

Everyone who joined had a wonderful time enjoying the sunshine, the scenery, and the atmosphere 🌞🌷.

☀️🎉 Saturday we held our Alderwood Summer Party and what a fantastic day it was! 🎉☀️

We had a brilliant turnout and such a wonderful atmosphere. Gina and then Mark kept us all entertained with great music 🎶, while everyone enjoyed a delicious Caribbean-style barbecue, refreshing ice creams, candy floss, and face painting. The huge inflatable obstacle course and slide were a big hit with the children – so much fun and laughter all around! 🎈🍦🌭

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to celebrate with us, and of course to our amazing Alderwood team for all their hard work in making the day such a success. 💛👏
