🥊💔 Ricky Hatton. A Champion in the Ring—and in the Fight for Mental Health.
Over the weekend, we lost Ricky Hatton. A fighter. A father. A man who faced his demons publicly so others wouldn’t feel alone.
He once said, “If a boxer can come out and say they're struggling and crying every day, it's going to make a huge difference.”
And it did. But it wasn’t enough.
Mental health doesn’t discriminate. It doesn’t care how strong you are, how loved you are, or how many titles you’ve won. It creeps in quietly, and too often, we suffer in silence.
As someone who advocates for wellbeing and midlife transitions, I know how hard it is to be heard. I’ve sent emails, pitched sessions, offered support—and been met with silence. HR departments close doors. Companies tick boxes. And people fall through the cracks.
We need to do better.
We need to listen louder.
We need to break down the barriers—especially for men, for midlife women, for anyone who’s ever felt like they had to “tough it out.”
Ricky Hatton didn’t just fight in the ring. He fought for his life. And now, we fight in his honour.
Let’s talk. Let’s check in. Let’s change the culture.
