Taking that first step into therapy can be intimidating, but it’s a powerful choice for your wellbeing.

Ever stare at your to-do list and feel completely frozen?
Not lazy. Not unmotivated. Just… overwhelmed.

What started as a helpful way to stay organized can suddenly feel like a mountain you’ll never climb.
Every item on that list starts to whisper:
“You should’ve done this already.”
“You’re falling behind.”
“Why can’t you just get it together?”

Here’s the thing we don’t talk about enough:
🧠 For people who struggle with anxiety, perfectionism, or burnout — a to-do list isn’t always helpful. Sometimes, it becomes a loud reminder of all the ways you think you’re failing.

You’re not broken for feeling this way. You’re not bad at life. You’re just trying to function with a nervous system that’s already overstimulated.

So what if we shifted the focus?

Instead of only writing to-dos, what if you added:
✨ “Things I’ve already done today (even small ones)”
✨ “Things that can wait”
✨ “One kind thing I can do for myself”

Your worth isn’t defined by how many boxes you tick.
Rest is productive. Slowness is valid.
And you are still doing enough — even if your list says otherwise.

If you don’t know me, you probably wouldn’t guess that I’ve had a long-standing fear of boats, lakes, paddleboards—basically anything that floats.

But last week, I decided to face that fear. I got into the little boat you see in this picture and paddled around the pond. I was shaking as I stepped in—absolutely terrified—but I did it.

And it got me thinking:
How much of our fear is about real danger, and how much is our brain trying to protect us from something that feels unsafe, even if it isn’t?

Sometimes, our minds trick us into staying in our comfort zone by flooding us with anxiety right before we try something new. But often, what’s on the other side of that fear is something empowering, even joyful.

Moral of the story: the fear beforehand rarely matches the excitement that comes after we try something new. 💛
