I’m adding a Scaban kit to my Csection recovery package. The kit contains a silicon strip, strip cleaning and maintenance soap and an information leaflet.
Silicone is a gentle and effective way to treat scars. Scars lose more moisture than the healthy skin around them, which makes your body ramp up production of scar tissue that can lead to raised, hard scars like hypertrophic or keloid ones.
Using a silicone sheet or gel helps your scar retain moisture at the same level as the rest of your skin, so your body stops making that excess tissue. It will also help reduce redness, itching and pain.
You can start wearing the strip as soon as your scar has healed and it’ll last you about 4–8 weeks.

If touching your Csection scar directly makes you feel squeamish or is uncomfortable in some other way, then try this. Find a quiet time where you can focus on the sensation and explore where it is OK to touch, belly? ribs? hips? through clothes? Can you send your breath down to your hands? Be curious about how the rest of the body reacts to your touch. Is there tension? Can you let it go? Do emotions bubble up? Can you let them through? Do you feel comfort and/or support from your hands? Can you allow that in?
The aim is to start to feel a sense of calm, safety and acceptance, to start to reconnect to an area that you may feel dissociated from. To build the foundation of long-term healing.
Let me know how you get on 😊

This post is all about hydration. It's so important to stay hydrated post birth, but we all know it can be tricky to put yourself first with your hands full. Use foods to top up your water intake by adding these delicious ingredients into your diet.

Coconut water, courgette, lettuce, strawberries and tomatoes are also great foods to include.
