Great Horkesley Manor is a beautiful care home situated in Colchester. The home has picturesque surroundings which provides a tranquil and therapeutic atmosphere for residents and visitors. The home has seventy-two en-suite rooms, some of which are twin rooms to enable couples to begin the next chapter of their life side-by-side. Residents are treated with the utmost respect and the staff champion supporting dignity and personal freedoms. Our team of exemplary staff have a wide range of extensive qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience providing care for those who have dementia, Alzheimers and Parkinsons, as well as other specialist care categories such as people with challenging behaviour and sensory impairment. Along with regular visits from the GP and local providers, residents can enjoy a range of activities available to them that are prepared for by our dedicated Activities Coordinator. Activities are adapted to suit the needs and wishes of our residents which includes reminiscence therapy, indoor games, quizzes, and arts and crafts. Our talented team of kitchen staff provide three delicious nutritious meals per day and welcome friends and family to come and join their loved ones for a meal. Hot drinks and snacks are always available and any dietary requirements are catered for. As well as indoor games, arts and crafts, and musical activities, our team also organise regular, live music, events and fundraisers for our residents and their families.
Thanks to close relationships with local businesses and community organisations, we are also able to occasionally make some residents’ dreams come true. Recently, this included granting a resident’s wish to go to a music festival.
