Our next exciting session is Monday 11th May where we will be Stone painting xx we will be supplying the stones but of course you can bring in your own!

We will have primed them for you ready for you to paint your design on straight away xx

We will be taking these out on the walks with us and hiding them for others to find, finders can either keep them or re-hide them for someone else to find!

For the sessions between now and then, they are bring your own craft, however we do have a basic supply of crafting materials that you are welcome to use if you don’t have a craft of your own.

There’s also lots of us in the group, that are talented in all sorts of creative ways and we will be happy to share our knowledge with you! Xx

✨ WONDERFUL PAPER WEAVING ✨

Wow what a wonderful creative session we had on Monday!!

Everyone got stuck in with creating paper weaving and we all created such beautiful weaves at the end!

Many had never tried it before and a couple were even worried they wouldn’t master it but I think you’ll agree by looking at the photos that everyone smashed it! We chose to use all types of card from glitter and gold, wrapping paper inspired and also lots of fabulous colours!

If you’re wanting to get creative, get out the house, meet like minded women and just have a few hours to yourself doing something fun, enjoyable, calming and inspiring, why not pop along?

We meet every Monday 12-3pm at London Road, Stanway Colchester! There’s free parking and the sessions are £5 or £4 if you’re on the walk plan. Kingsland church have a lovely cafe and all basic materials are included, any extra materials needed for sessions you will be advised 💖💖

It can be so hard to pluck up the courage to do something new. Even the most confident people can find it daunting turning up somewhere not knowing anyone — so if you’re already feeling nervous or lacking in confidence, it can feel really tough.

But nearly every single woman you see in the photos in this group has done exactly that. They took the plunge and turned up not knowing anyone. Not one of them has ever regretted waking up that morning and deciding that was the day — the day they came along, walked with us, or joined one of our events.

We live in a world where we’re more disconnected than ever. We don’t always know our neighbours, we scroll through social media watching others living their lives, and it’s easy to feel like we’re not quite good enough… or that we’re just too busy working or looking after everyone else to take time for ourselves.

But we should take that time. We deserve to take that time. Even if it’s just stepping outside, getting some fresh air, and having a chat with someone new.

One new member recently moved to the area and came along for one of our Sunday walks, not knowing a single person. After the walk, I asked if she’d mind writing a few words about her experience — just so we can understand how it feels for someone new and whether there’s anything we could do to make it even easier for others. We really appreicate her taking the time to record her experience.

Here’s what she wrote:

Hi Rebecca,
As a 57 year old single woman who works full time and has recently moved from London to Colchester I was concerned on how I was going to meet new people and make new friends. I found walkntalk on Facebook and thought that could be a bit of me.
I decided that Sunday would be the day, I knew where the meeting point at the castle was (good start) but feeling a little nervous I arrived 15 mins early. I had nothing to feel nervous about I met Rebecca the founder who greeted me with a big smile and made me feel very welcome. As other ladies arrived she introduced me to them all.
The walk was great and I didn't stop talking to the lovely ladies. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get around to them all but never mind I will be back next week.
I really enjoyed the choice of staying for a coffee at the end of the walk and at no point did I feel awkward or not part of the group.
What a fun way to meet new people. Thank you everyone for making me feel welcome.

We had a great sense and savour walk with Blossome and Beat The Street on Saturday!
Thank you to Kim for a lovely walk around Castle Park ###

This is what wrote about it on fb:

Sense and Savour Walk to Cultivate Happiness
🗓️ Saturday 11th April
📍Firstsite Gallery, Colchester
🕐 Meet at 1pm for a 1.30 pm start

Did you know your brain is wired to look for difficulty and problems?

We have a negativity bias, and because of this, we need to intentionally pay attention to positive experiences in order to accurately perceive our world and ourselves. In this walk you’ll learn a simple self-compassion practice to help you look for positive experiences, boosting happy feelings. ☺️

This walk is part of the Beat the Street initiative. Not only will you earn double points on beat boxes in the park, there will be a special Beat Box, so you’ll be able to tap in and earn double points for your team.

If you are not signed up to Beat the Street, that’s ok, it’s not a requirement. If you would like to take part in Beat the Street, we can help you get started with your own Beat the Street account so you can continue to enjoy the game. It’s a fabulous way to have fun while moving your body more.

Meet us at 1pm in front of Firstsite, and we can help you get set up for best thestreet.

After the walk, we’ll return to Firstsite Gallery, where you are warmly invited to stay for a Mindful Slow Stitching session, a creative and calming way to continue the afternoon together.

Read more in our website or just meet us on Saturday at 1pm in front of Firstsite.
