A Happy St.David's Day from the team at Ty Hendy! 💛 Celebrating all things Welsh, Chef Adrian took to the kitchen to prepare Welsh Cakes for all to enjoy, whilst the rest of Ty Hendy got stuck into making some Welsh-inspired arts and crafts.

Smiles all round! 😊

It's International Wheelchair Day, and to teach us more, our People Moving Lead Holly is taking over... over to you Holly! 😊

"At Consensus, we celebrate International Wheelchair Day to recognise and value the important role wheelchairs play in enabling people to live independently and take part in the things that matter to them.

We have over 60 in-house People Moving trainers across Consensus, strengthening safe and effective practice throughout our services. This internal expertise enables us to support more than 80 people with physical needs safely, confidently, and consistently. A few of our positive impacts include:
⛳ Courtwick Lodge not only has a flat, accessible garden, but also a small golf course, meaning everyone can join in for a game.
💜 M has recently opted to use his wheelchair more frequently, so he can enjoy his weekly coffee, and visits to the farm (as pictured! 📸)
✨Waterbury House has had a beautiful, large garden ramp installed, ensuring that people can access the garden easily and independently.

A time to promote inclusion, create supportive and accessible environments, and celebrate the achievements and contributions of people who use wheelchairs."

Where every person matters, thank you Holly for sharing some of the fantastic outcomes from across Consensus 🧑‍🦽‍➡️

✨It's social media takeover time...✨ Introducing Steve, Support Worker and Sustainability Ambassador for Dyscarr Grange!

"As Sustainability Champion, I wanted to share some of the steps we’ve been taking to support our sustainability pledge. This year, we joined Greene King’s Tubs2Pub initiative, collecting our empty Christmas sweet tubs so they could be properly recycled while also raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

We gathered a great amount here at Dyscarr, and I’ve now dropped them off to support the scheme. I’m also continuing to collect used batteries and taking them to local recycling points, including Asda and One Stop, to make sure they’re disposed of safely and responsibly."

These small actions add up, and together, we’re helping build a more sustainable future ♻️ Well done Steve! 👏

Today our Sustainability Action Group met to share their achievements over the past year, and what steps they can take to work towards a sustainable future - aligned to our 10 Environmental, Social Impact, and Governance (ESG) commitments ♻️

We were proud to tick off 3 of our 10 commitments already, as we celebrated;
✅Becoming a Carbon Neutral organisation.
✅Working with the people we support to improve and measure their quality of life.
✅Improving our cyber security by becoming 'Cyber-Essentials Plus™' certified.

Team updates included implementing and optimising systems so our colleagues can spend more time delivering exceptional support, our Quality of Life tool telling us 99% of the people we support feel happy in their home (out of 81% completion), 0% of our IT equipment has gone to landfill, and many more that work towards a shared goal of a sustainable Consensus.

Because when everyone takes 'one step at a time', we create a huge impact together 💚

At Consensus, Every Moment Matters - and this week, we celebrated those words in so many different languages.

We’ve put together a special compilation of colleagues saying “At Consensus, Every Moment Matters” in their native language to celebrate International Mother Language Day; including Nigerian languages, Welsh, Romanian and more 💬

We’re proud to work alongside colleagues who bring their cultures to life every day - celebrating cultural days, sharing traditions, cooking incredible dishes and welcoming different cuisines into our services each week.

Because diversity isn’t just something we acknowledge, it’s something we celebrate at Consensus. 🌎💜

How do you take your pancakes – sweet or savoury? At Consensus, we had both (and then some)! 🥞

🍫Joe at King Edwards Grove flipped up a storm for everyone he lives with, even making a Tesco run for “healthy” toppings… though Nutella definitely stole the show
🏆Stanley Park Road got competitive with a pancake decorating contest (all winners, obviously!)
😊And Philip at Windsor Avenue was busy making pancakes too

We might have to host our own cooking show next year with the amount of talented chefs we have! 🧑‍🍳

❤️ Love was definitely in the air at Consensus… even if we’re 4 days late sharing it! ❤️

We couldn’t miss the chance to show off these beautiful moments from across our services - because at Consensus, where every moment matters, celebrations like this are what it’s all about!

💃🕺 Jameel & Jennie and David & Tara dressed to impress for a Valentine’s disco, enjoyed dinner together and getting stuck into a game of Mr & Mrs.
🍽️ Lizzy invited Tony round for a lovely home-cooked meal - the perfect cosy way to celebrate.
🎈 Valley House went all out with heart balloons, beautiful decorations and a delicious buffet for everyone to enjoy.
💖 Perrywood House also got into the spirit with fantastic Valentine’s decorations, spreading the love throughout the home.
🌸 And Adrian picked beautiful flowers for his partner.

Meet Jamie, Gretton’s very own Recycling Champion!

At Gretton House, one of our services in Northamptonshire, sustainability is something we build together, from environmental responsibility to the wider social and governance values that shape how we work. And Jamie is a shining example of how meaningful this can be when people lead the way themselves.

Every week, Jamie takes charge of sorting all the recycling from the kitchen and the house. He carefully makes sure everything goes into the right bins, helping the whole service reduce waste and look after the planet. His pride in doing a good job shines through.

Jamie also loves getting involved in the local community. Whether he’s out supporting litter‑picking or helping keep shared spaces clean, he’s always ready to take action. It’s something he genuinely enjoys, telling us:
“I really enjoy helping out in the kitchen and recycling the rubbish. I really enjoy my job, it makes me feel good.”

What makes this even more special is that Jamie chooses these activities as part of his own Quality of Life goals. He sets them, he leads them, and he achieves them, and we simply support him to make those goals a reality. His commitment and enthusiasm show how empowered, meaningful participation can make a positive difference for both people and the planet.

We’re incredibly proud of you, Jamie.

Service visits are always the highlight of our week!

A few weeks ago, we headed over to Perrywood, one of our services in Kettering, to spend some time with the amazing people we support and to catch up with the brilliant team who make the service such a warm, positive place to live and work.

We were also there to film two of our fantastic colleagues as part of our National Apprenticeship Week celebrations. Hearing them share their experiences, their growth, and the impact their apprenticeship has had on their career was truly inspiring.

At Consensus, nothing matters more than staying connected to our services, listening, learning, and celebrating the everyday moments that make a difference.

A huge thank you to everyone at Perrywood for such a warm welcome.

As part of we’re celebrating the amazing journeys of our colleagues across 🎊

Meet Tanya, Support Worker at Perrywood House 👋

Tanya has been with Consensus for 2 years, and in that time she has truly flourished. Completing her Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care with a Distinction, she shared that in previous roles she wasn’t supported to complete an apprenticeship - but at Consensus, she’s been given the encouragement and opportunities to grow both in her career and as a person.

At Consensus, we’re proud to support our colleagues to unlock their full potential, with accredited qualifications, bespoke training programs, and guidance every step of the way; we've been named 18th in the UK’s Best Workplaces for Development™.
