Bluebird Care (Colchester & Tendring) opened its office in July 2010 and following our successful registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) they delivered care to their first customer in September 2010. In 2012 they won the Regional Franchise of the year award and were one of the finalists for franchise of the year award 2012. Bluebird Care (Colchester) is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to provide Home Care services. They are members of the United Home Care Association (UKHCA). Every customer receives an tailored care package which is designed around you’re their individual care needs. Bluebird Care provides the following service - all in the comfort of the customer’s own home:

We had one of our lovely customers, Claire, pop in to show off our her lovely bright yellow Pudsey T-shirt in aid of Children in Need! She was of course accompanied by her fabulous carer, Amelia, who in classic Amelia style also donned a Pudsey T-shirt.

In the Spotlight has always been our way of highlighting the incredible carers who go above and beyond each month. This time, we decided to also shine the spotlight on our amazing customers!

We're thrilled to celebrate the milestones and achievements of a few remarkable individuals this month... so without further ado....

🌟 Stuart has accomplished something truly inspiring! Thanks to his adapted frame, he can now walk across the room — a fantastic milestone that reflects his dedication and positivity.

🏊‍♀️ Our young customer, Emily, has made great strides this week! She adapted seamlessly to a new swimming pool, wowing the care staff with her determination as she persevered with floats before learning how to swim. What an outstanding achievement!

😄 Harry is our most enthusiastic young person during care sessions! He never fails to give us the best thumbs up and light up the room with his smile.

🐾 Jason has taken on a big responsibility by helping out his neighbours by taking on their cat, who turns out to be pregnant! He’s proving himself to be a natural cat owner! Which is music to our ears as it sounds like there are lots more on the way!

Bertie the Support Dog took some time to reflect on the many animals including horses, dogs and pigeons that were often drafted into the war effort alongside mules, cats and canaries. The purple poppy is a symbol to remember animals that lost their lives during war - (Unfortunately, Bertie wasn't able to find one)

Animals play such a huge part in our lives, and so we'd like to take a moment to think about all the sacrifices they made for humankind.

Julia spent time with our customers today, all of whom wore poppies in honor of Remembrance Day. She began her day with Janet and her dog, Henry, who was also sporting a poppy.

Later, Julia enjoyed coffee and cake with Colin at Esquires Coffee and this combined with Janet's smile certainly acts a poignant reminder of the freedoms we've gained from their bravery. 🌺☕️

Today, we pause to remember the courage, commitment, and sacrifices of the brave men and women who fought to protect our freedom.

THRILLLLERRRRR!!!

We had a thrilling time at Cadows last week when we hosted our monthly meet up for our customer and members of the community.

Aside from pumpkin carving, we also had a spooky boogie to Thriller with Nicola & Vicky from Bluebird Care and Zoe from Rise Life - Essex who was acting as our dance instructor!

So much fun! We can't wait until next month!

Please give a huge warm welcome to our new Care Supervisor for Braintree & Uttlesford - Aaron!!!!!

"I have always found myself supporting and caring for others. This helped start my journey in care as an awake night carer, and have since worked in many different areas – from complex care and mental health support to working with dementia in care homes. Over the years, I’ve had the fortune of supporting all ages, from children to the elderly, and each experience has taught me something new. It hasn’t always been easy, but I can’t imagine myself in any other line of work.

When I’m not working, my world revolves around my family. I’m a proud dad of three boys, and with my partner we love spending time together as a family – whether that’s heading out on family days out or staying in and making as much mess as possible. My family means a lot to me, and I’m fortunate to have the support I have around me."

An important extra detail to note is that Aaron is an Arsenal fan! Unfortunately for our Director, Melvyn, we are yet to recruit an Everton fan! One day perhaps!

Our Dementia Ambassador, Robert Wallace, recently completed his 57th Dementia Friends session at Community Voluntary Services Tendring

Rob has now made an incredible 1,337 new Dementia Friends. That is 1,337 people who are now in a better position to support and understand those living with Dementia.

What an incredible achievement! Robert Wallace

A Dementia Friend is someone who has learned about dementia and committed to taking small, everyday actions to help people affected by it in their community. The initiative, run by the Alzheimer's Society, aims to improve public understanding and change how society perceives dementia. Becoming a Dementia Friend is done by completing a short online video or attending an information session.

The last Wednesday of every month, we host a community event at Cadows called Activi-Teas with Bluebird Care. It is a place for people to come together, have fun, play games and enjoy activities. We are also joined each time with the amazing team at Rise Life - Essex who deliver an adapted seated sports session to get everyone moving!

This week, we brought pumpkins for everyone to carve! It was such a wonderful afternoon, and we would like to thank everyone who came along and all of our amazing staff who supported our customers and members of the community.
