A team of 18 Phoenix swimmers headed to Lowestoft yesterday for the 21st Suffolk Swimability Meet. What an incredible gala for our swimmers! πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈβœ¨

Every single swimmer showed outstanding effort, determination, and team spirit β€” delivering superb performances both individually and in the team relays. It was fantastic to see everyone supporting each other and pushing for their very best.

A big well done to our club captains Isla and Ziva for leading the pre-pool warm-up β€” getting everyone focused and ready to race.

A special shoutout to Caiden, Riley, and Max for competing in their very first gala β€” you all did brilliantly and should be so proud of yourselves! πŸ‘

Huge congratulations to Rico for being awarded the trophy for best effort and enthusiasm β€” a truly well-deserved recognition of your positivity and hard work! πŸ†

Our co-captain Ziva returned to the pool following a recent operation β€” great to have you back doing what you love!

Our Head Coach Tracy was extremely pleased with the whole team, and rightly so β€” you all swam with such passion.

Finally, a big thank you to Gill B, Gill P and Kathryn our amazing team managers. Your support makes everything possible πŸ’™

Here is a lovely picture of Riley with his certificate after representing his school in the Harwich and District Primary School Swimming Association Swimming Gala.

He was selected to be part of a squad of 12 children and his school came 3rd out of all the schools competing.

He had a great afternoon and is excited to try out again for the squad next year!

Well done Riley, you’ve done Phoenix proud 😊

Our very own Poppy from the teaching section will be riding 12 miles, throughout March 2026, to raise money for The Daisy Garland and Purple Day!

The Daisy Garland is a lifeline for children with drug resistant epilepsy, and their families. They have supported us throughout Poppy's time on the ketogenic diet, which has helped with her seizure control, and has given her so much more confidence. Please read her fantastic story and donate if and what you can πŸ₯°

Purple day is held annually on the 26th March to raise awareness about epilepsy, dispel myths and support those living with the condition. It encourages people to wear purple and host events to foster understanding and reduce stigma. πŸ’œπŸ’œ

We are supporting Purple Day to raise awareness of epilepsy, and to raise money for The Daisy Garland, who offer so much support to children with drug resistant epilepsy and their families.

Well done to both Mark and Holly who represented Colchester Phoenix on
Saturday at Basildon Sporting Village.

As always, they both swam and represented the club well, like they always do πŸ₯° this is a hard competition for our swimmers as there is no para category and they did brilliantly.

Mark not content with being a European Champion won a fantastic gold in the 100m Backstroke making him Ess*x County Masters Champion in the 40/44 age group.

Well done to you both!

Thank you Leisure World Colchester for always supporting our club πŸ₯°

Leisure World has proudly been home to Colchester Phoenix Amateur Swimming Club for 33 years. Founded by the late Maggie Hargreaves, the club was built on one powerful motto: β€œAbility, not disability.”

This season, their swimmers have shown exactly what that means, winning golds, smashing PBs and showing true hard work in the water.

Head Coach Tracy Cole says: β€œWe may be a small club with limited pool time and resources, but our heart is huge.”

And it really is. πŸ’™
