Another successful project and another happy customer!

UFO were honoured to be involved in the Marilyn Monroe Exhibition 2024 at the Arches London Bridge in London. The exhibition opened on 18th October, showcasing 82 of UFO’s Stem fittings. Our Sales Engineer, Jamie, specified a mixture of the fixed one and fixed two Stem head fittings finished in black for this project to perfectly illuminate each display cabinet.

Cloudy Bay Garden

Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London, UK.

The UK's most famous horticultural event, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, runs each May in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London. Around 700, 000 visitors from across the globe descend on the prestigious London borough to view avant-garde pavilions, show gardens and mini gardens which have been designed and nurtured by a wide spectrum of organisations.

UFO was delighted to be chosen by Michael Grubb Studio, who was working in partnership with the acclaimed landscape architects Wilson McWilliam Studio, to manufacture fibre optic lighting for the Cloudy Bay Discovery Garden at the 2013 show.

To help give the desired effect for the Cloudy Bay Garden, Universal Fibre Optic Lighting chose a variety of fittings including the P2 stainless steel paver, the 4D mini downlights and P20 stainless steel pavers. The combination of these fittings allow for the garden to offer a warm and welcoming environment for visitors.

Vino Wines - Edinburgh

The Arches

UFO Lighting designed and manufactured a series of bespoke copper pendant light fittings for 'Vino Wines' newest retail store in Edinburgh. Aptly named ' The Arches' after its residence in one of the renovated Victorian archways that lies below street level in the city's Old Town, the trendy wine store café bar features a utilitarian feel throughout.

When designing the lighting scheme for The Arches we wanted the fittings to compliment the C-Listed building's style, playing on the rugged history of the exposed brickwork and angular structure that dates back to 1875.

We opt for two slightly different styles of pendant fittings, the first we custom made to extend out over the store's robust wooden shelving units illuminating the vast selection of wine on display, whilst the second set of fittings mirror the curve of the large, vaulted ceiling providing ambient lighting onto the bar area below.

Each fitting was fabricated from 15mm diameter copper pipe and fitted with warm white colour LED spotlights. A UFO light source with a personalised template was also installed in the store and used to project the Vino Wines logo onto the rear wall.

Inspired by the legendary hospitality of its founder, George Smith, as well as its remote glen location, the Glenlivet visitor centre boasts a new look after undergoing 18 months of extensive renovations.

The revamped centre includes an indoor field of barley, harvested, and preserved at one of the local farms that supplies the distillery, a chandelier made from local dried flowers, a mosaic floor designed by Scottish ceramics artist Helen Miles and completely transformed interiors using the predominant natural colours of the Glenlivet Estate.

For the Speyside Room, lighting designers 'Into Lighting' contracted UFO to manufacture and install the fibre optics for their stunning feature. 'Into' used real dried barley to create the appearance of a living field of barley. UFO P4 fittings were installed amongst the barley stalks to illuminate the plants and reveal their rich golden colour. The lighting feature helps add to the authenticity of the brand that Glenlivet represent and with barely being a key ingredient in the whisky making process it was the perfect fit.

One of the many exciting projects that Universal Fibre Optics have been involved with. Making use of our stranded side glow PMMA fibre harnesses and Nova light sources whilst also highlighting our ability to tailor our services around the clients wants and needs.

In 2016 Universal Fibre Optics partnered with Network Rail and British visual artist Rachel Wilberforce to create the artwork, cyclorama at Union Theatre in Bankside. ‘May the force be with you’ as we pop the spotlight onto the Star Wars Exhibition at Madame Tussauds, London 🔦

Housing more than 300 amazingly lifelike wax figurines, a state of the art 4D cinema, and a nostalgic taxi ride through 400 years of London life, the legendary Madame Tussauds on Marylebone Road is a tourist attraction not to be missed.

For the Star Wars Exhibition we used 2 Luna Decorative LED light sources with twinkle wheel to power the fibre optics in each of the 2 star curtains and offer the heat-free points of light their realistic sparkling effect. Both light sources are housed in easily accessible locations one and a half metres away from the star curtains.

We also supplied 8 x Sirius Decorative LED light sources all featuring twinkling effect with DMX control - this ensures the exhibition really sparkles and brings the Star effect, to Star Wars.

Universal Fibre Optics has been manufacturing fibre optic lighting for nearly 30 years and has grown to be a global leader in its field.

The quality of the manufacturing and our prestige service has won us many projects in the Royal Palaces and lighting the Crown Jewels in the Tower Of London. Now that’s impressive!

Several years ago our existing extensive CNC facility enabled us to develop and manufacture a range of LED fittings without additional huge investment - resulting in LED fittings with the same quality as our fibre optic lighting and at a reasonable price.
