Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer for both men and women in Northern Ireland. It is more common in older people, especially men.
Screening is aimed at people without symptoms, and will help determine whether you need to go for further tests. It can also pick up pre-cancerous polyps so these can be easily removed and reduce your risk of developing bowel cancer in the future.

Bowel cancer screening is offered to people aged 60 to 74 to check for bowel cancer. Screening can help detect cancer at an early stage when treatment is more effective. Screening can also check for and remove polyps which can go on to develop into cancer over time.
