It's World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week 🌍 🦠

AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites become resistant to treatment: increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness and death.

At Eakin Healthcare, we remain committed to our responsibility in tackling the spread of drug-resistant pathogens. We protect many of our breathing circuits with BioCote®, an antimicrobial silver additive which limits the number of microbes on their surface.

▶️ Watch the animation below to see how BioCote® reduces the number of microbes on a surface by up to 99.5% in just 2 hours.

To celebrate all of the inspiring neonatal healthcare professionals on , we spent some time with the wonderful NICU team at Ormskirk Hospital.

Michael Grubb, one of our respiratory Account Managers (and with a little help from our NeoFlow® mascot Kai!), stopped by to thank the team for the remarkable care they provide each and every day. Your dedication, compassion and expertise shine through in everything that you do, giving preterm babies a strong start for a hopeful future. 👶 💙

A 50 year old smoker with COPD, OSA and a BMI > 30 was admitted to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The patient was preoxygenated by HFOT and postoperatively extubated onto CPAP with a face mask using the AquaVENT® FD140i dual therapy gas flow driver.

Despite the patient being transferred to the HDU for aftercare, their speedy recovery meant that they were discharged without the requirement for a costly overnight stay, freeing up a HDU bedspace for the next patient.
