Happy Sunday !
Look forward to you joining me at class this week and we are giving our lymphatic system a bit of a boost.

Did you know that yoga can help improve your lymphatic system? Do you ever feel tired and sluggish, have achy muscles or swollen legs and feet ?

The combination of gentle stretching, movement and deep abdominal breathing during our yoga practice can help .

This week’s classes will include
gentle twists, inversions like legs up the wall and down dog and arm movements to get the lymph moving around the body.

The heart has a pump to make it work - the lymphatic system has no pump but needs gentle movement and deep breathing to get the lymph moving so thats why yoga is ideal - we combine both !

Thank you to everyone who joined me at class this week. We were working hard on our hip flexibility and it’s not always about the pose but your journey to get there.

Yogi squat isn’t the easiest even with blocks for support, but the mobility and flexibility you improve on every week is much more important.

We are all made differently and our ability to move and stretch will improve gradually with regular practice.
Progress is progress no matter how small !

Have a great weekend Barbara x

Down ward dog makes a difference in so many ways x

When your World turns upside down.

Downward facing Dog is probably one of the most popular poses in the practice. It offers many benefits, often people arrive at class when their world has been turned upside down by grief, disappointment, rejection or ill health. The secret about Moving, Stretching, Meditation, and Breathwork, is that through time it works the nervous system bringing in a calmness and healing that no medicine or quick fix can offer!

The body has a innate capacity to heal stress, and trauma, that has been stored in the body for months or even years.

I have witnessed the changes in people myself over the years, through classes, workshops and training. The more we appreciate what goes on in our bodies, the more we can begin to know ourselves.

" Change is the Partner of Grief" even a good change! Yoga offers Somatic exercises that help release long term stress and help you get back on the path to deep healing, and find yourself again!

The head is below the heart in inversions, changing the normal working off the body but delivering many benefits. So when your World has been turned upside down, and you return to your normal posture things start to look different. You feel and see things from a new perspective. It might take time but turning up for class and following a structured programme, will renew the parts of you that you no longer relate to. Sometimes turning things upside down is not a bad thing!!!

Meditation - anyone can meditate even for a few minutes a day and the health benefits are great.

It was lovely to share our thoughts on meditation with each other at the end of class today - some love it,some don’t and everyone has a different experience.

I recently completed a 3 week meditation course. I followed a 45 minutes guided meditation every day. How did I find it ?

- Committing to the time every day was a challenge in itself - life can seem so busy at times ! I thought using the same guided script would bore me but I actually got something different from it every time. Some days it was harder to keep the mind from wandering but that’s life !

-How do I feel after the 3 weeks - calmer, sleeping well, more relaxed and focused.
It’s a new habit that I am hoping to continue. There are lots of guided meditations you can follow or I just like the silence sometimes!

If this is something you would like to see included more of in class please let me know.
Have a great weekend x
