The Little Herbalista

The Little Herbalista Bespoke Wellness Specialist & fully qualified Medical Herbalist | Limited consultations available now.

The Little Herbalista was launched in June 2014 when Áine & Duncan, the co-founders, took part in the young entrepreneur competition: TestTown. The competition was a week long event culminating in opening a two day pop-up shop, where the pair trialled a herbal medicine practice alongside providing speciality fine tea samples, allowing the pair to raise awareness of herbal medicine and how herbs can benefit people's health. Áine & Duncan won the local heats, and went to Cambridge in October, where they did it all again. Whilst they didn't win, the experience provided a phenomenal opportunity to launch the business and raise the profile of herbal medicine. Since then, the practice has evolved and now includes a range of Bespoke Wellness Therapies, including Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, Deep Tissue Massage, Cupping Therapy, Sports Massage, and Low-Level Laser Therapy. As practitioners Áine & Duncan are trained to degree level, with high professional standards. Their aim is to inspire people to think differently about their health, to help explore and target the root cause of their symptoms, and to empower each individual to take their health into their own hands. I'm the kinda gal who much prefers a foraging haul to a clothes haul.

Went for a walk around the forest yesterday, specifically keeping an eye out for these beauties! I'm delighted with how many I got.

Yes this is Fly Agaric and Yes these are super toxic when taken internally, unless you know what you are doing and even then, I wouldn't recommend it.

After picking them, I got them cleaned up, chopped up and am making a tincture for EXTERNAL USE ONLY!

My plans are to use it as instructed by Henriette Kress. When the tincture is ready, 2-3 drops on the spine are all that is needed, used specifically for nerve pain such as sciatica.

I love how amazing plants can be ☺️

Love that this beautiful book by arrived today.

I'm so ready to dive into the concept of Spiritual Herbalism, connect to the deep roots of Ancestral Medicine, as well as unpick colonial mindsets to both plants and wellbeing.

From the moment I discovered it was possible to train as a herbalist, I knew I'd found my calling. Intuitively it screams to me of lost ancestral connections and knowledge, as well as the impact of colonialism still has in Ireland today. So I'm looking forward to seeing what journey this book by Karen sparks.

Have you recently read any interesting herbal or wellbeing books that have sparked a new way of looking at life? Let me know below 👇

Meet Little Mugwort! A beautiful darling doll created by and gifted by a wonderful friend, whom we've both been on a wellness journey together. We've been working to push boundaries, break the cycles of old and generally take the time to look after ourselves.

I'm blessed to share this journey with her as it is so important for me as a practitioner to practice what I preach (not that preaching is my thing). But if I can't look after myself, how can I support my patients?!

I can't wait to find a dedicated space for Little Mugwort 💜 do you love her as much as I do?

Today I'm being proactive in my own self-care. In no time at all I'll be back to working in school during the day as a teaching assistant. A role that is both challenging and immensely rewarding.

In preparation of being around many more bodies and with covid still raging, I'm taking small steps to look after my health.

First up is making sure that I eat proper meals, slow cooked where possible, so that my body has the resources to do what it needs to do.

Next up are my herbal allies. I've used a fair amount of tonic herbs in my mix. This is so my body and stress levels can adapt to the incoming changes of environment. There's also plenty of emotional support in there too, to keep me grounded and be manifest in the moment.
It's all too easy to get swept along by life, my hope is that with the right support, I can be more present and conscious of any adverse impacts early, so that I can take steps to remedy them as needed.

If you're curious whether herbal medicine could be useful for your general well-being, check out my website for more information and how I practice. 💜

Truly gutted to learn today of the passing of Andrew Stableford 💔

Andrew was an enigma. He led the third and final year of the BSc Herbal Medicine course in Lincoln for many years. I struggled through my first few years of the degree, it was by no means an easy course, but the third year was when it all clicked into place. Andrew's infinate wisdom and guidance sang true to my own calling to be a herbalist.

So, in 2019 when it became clear that Andrew intended to launch his master's degree, something he'd been talking about since before my time of studying with him. I jumped at the opportunity to learn under his influence once more. Sadly though, it wasn't meant to be.

When the course started that November Andrew was already unwell, he powered through that first weekend, no doubt to his own detriment. Even though the course wasn't meant to be for me, as without him it's just not the same. I will always be eternally grateful for that weekend, to get the chance to bask in his knowledge and passion ince more. His quiet, calm and confident manner were awe inspiring in so many ways.

Despite Andrew's health issues, earlier this year he managed to release his long awaited herbal book. The Handbook of Constitutional and Energetic Herbal Medicine: The Lotus Within. Those pages encompass so much of my third year of studies, Andrew's way of looking at health and herbs was truly unique to him.

He is going to be truly missed in the herbal world, but I imagine nothing like the loss that his family are experiencing.

Whilst I had hoped that Andrew's health would pull through, his spirit was obviously ready for the next big adventure. So instead I send both him and his loved ones love and light, with all the best wishes I can muster.

'til the next time Andrew! 💜

Our Story

The Little Herbalista was launched in June 2014 when Áine took part in the young entrepreneur competition: TestTown; with the help of her partner Duncan. Since the competition, which gave the pair the bug to work from a high street location, Áine & Duncan have been working towards creating a unique space that houses both a Tea Bar and Wellness Centre.

In August 2017 Áine & Duncan opened the doors to the first Tea Bar in Northern Ireland called INFUSE Artisan Tea, specialising in a large range of high quality loose leaf teas, all brewed to exacting standards and in April 2018 the pair launched INFUSE Wellness. Initially the Wellness Centre was home to Duncan practising only Deep Tissue Massage, but he has since expanded his range to include Cupping Therapy and Laser Acupuncture. In August 2018 Áine also relaunched her Herbal Medicine brand The Little Herbalista to see her journey come full circle, and in September 2018 we were pleased to introduce Cheryl Henry into the fold as a fully qualified Reflexologist.

Our aim is to inspire people to think differently about their health, to help explore and target the root cause of their symptoms, to empower each individual to take their health into their own hands and take some much needed self-care time.
