Pursuing vehicles into the Shrewsbury area did not stop the Rota 2 night shift from seizing numerous un-insured vehicles earlier this week.

It is your responsibility as the driver and rider to make sure you have the correct licence, insurance and that your vehicle is road legal 👍🏼

Uninsured drivers are significantly more likely to cause a death or injury on the road and are also often involved in wider road crime.

We urge all drivers to respect other road users and drive insured. Protecting the public and keeping our roads safe for everyone is our priority and removing uninsured drivers from our roads helps to do that 😊

Patrols continue - day and night 🌥️ 🌙

During the early hours of this morning (16/11/25), our officers were made aware of a black Audi A1 which had failed to stop for HGC Arfordir Gorllewin Conwy / NWP West Conwy Coastal officers in Colwyn Bay. Our officers were tasked and a short time later, located the vehicle in Colwyn Bay where it again, failed to stop for them.

The vehicle was then pursued in the area resulting in it travelling through a road which had been closed due to flood water. Low and behold, we utilised one of our lesser used tactical resolutions and brought the pursuit to an end with the help of . Yes, the vehicle travelled into the flood water and cut out... 🤐🫣

The driver of the vehicle then decamped and a short time later, we located them in nearby hedgerow. They were subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, driving other than accordance with a driving licence, driving without insurance and drink driving and remains in custody 🚔

🚨 Over 700 Vehicles Stopped in Operation Dark Night 🚨

North Wales Police have stopped over 700 vehicles as part of Operation Dark Night - a seasonal road safety campaign urging everyone to

With darker evenings and winter weather setting in, officers carried out roadside checks to make sure vehicles were safe and drivers were fit to drive.

Several licences were revoked due to poor eyesight - a reminder that drivers must be able to read a number plate from 20 metres away.

The campaign also included joint patrols with the British Horse Society to promote safe driving around horse riders, and safety advice was shared for all road users including cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists.

👮‍♀️ Sgt Emma Birrell said: “Our work continues every day to keep people safe. Sadly, ignoring safety advice can lead to serious consequences - we’re here to help prevent that.”

✅ Stay visible
✅ Slow down in poor conditions
✅ Look out for vulnerable road users

🚨 Dros 700 o gerbydau wedi'u stopio yn Ymgyrch Dark Night 🚨

Mae Heddlu Gogledd Cymru wedi stopio dros 700 o gerbydau fel rhan o Ymgyrch Dark Night - ymgyrch diogelwch ffyrdd tymhorol sy'n annog pawb i ddilyn y cyngor hwn

Gyda nosweithiau tywyllach a thywydd y gaeaf yn cychwyn, cynhaliodd swyddogion wiriadau ar ochr y ffordd i wneud yn siŵr bod cerbydau'n ddiogel a bod gyrwyr yn gymwys i yrru.

Cafodd sawl trwydded eu diddymu oherwydd bod gyrwyr yn methu gweld yn iawn - rhaid i yrwyr allu darllen plât rhif o 20 metr i ffwrdd.

Roedd yr ymgyrch hefyd yn cynnwys patrolau ar y cyd gyda Chymdeithas Ceffylau Prydain i hyrwyddo gyrru'n ddiogel o amgylch marchogion, a rhannwyd cyngor diogelwch i holl ddefnyddwyr y ffordd gan gynnwys beicwyr, cerddwyr a beicwyr modur.

👮‍♀️ Dywedodd Rhingyll Emma Birrell: "Mae ein gwaith yn parhau bob dydd yn cadw pobl yn ddiogel. Yn anffodus, gall anwybyddu cyngor diogelwch arwain at ganlyniadau difrifol - rydyn ni yma i helpu atal hynny."

✅ Arhoswch yn weladwy
✅ Arafwch mewn tywydd gwael
✅ Gwyliwch am ddefnyddwyr y ffordd sy'n agored i niwed
