Well done to long-term CSMC rehabber and EJA player Patrick who fought back from two meniscal surgeries to return to the pitch and Captain his team to the U14 Cup Final today. The team battled back from 0-2 down to lead 3-2 with ten minutes to go but unfortunately it wasn’t to be and the team ended as runners up. It may not have been silverware today but if there’s one thing Patrick has developed through back to back rehabs is resilience, so he knows how to overcome a set back and today’s heartache is just another day on the road to the top.

Patrick worked with grit and determination throughout his long rehab with Physio Antoine and we were stoked to see him back on the pitch driving his team all the way to the final. Well done Patrick 👏🏼

Our waiting area has a new feature! “Spirits in Motion” painted by .artist and its accompanying soundscape by .

The art has a special story… it was commissioned by Physio Matthew’s parents as a gift for the clinic. The artists, Sarah and Jason are family friends from Trinidad 🇹🇹 where Matthew’s parents are from (but Sarah and Jason now live in the UK). Sarah painted the piece based on descriptions of CSMC and what we stand for, and Jason created the accompanying soundscape to give the art an immersive experience (check out the 3rd slide). Incredibly, Jason is blind with 100% sight loss!

Sarah is a full time artist and is even working on a piece that will be delivered to the Pope later this year. Jason is a full time musician and works closely with Roland to make their kit suitable for visually impaired users. Check out their pages to learn more about their work. You might end up deciding to commission some work for yourself!

What does it look like to return to pitch-based training after ACL surgery? Well, take a look yourself.

This week we had two rehabbers progress to the next stage of their journey. After several months of graft in the gym and more recently with driveway-based running, Amit returns to pitch training following bilateral ACL injury sustained in skiing, and Daniel returns to pitch training following ACL injury sustained in 7s Rugby. A great milestone for both, well done lads 🙌🏽👏🏼

Now we build running volume, speed, change of direction, and athletic movements under fatigue + cognitive load as both work towards return to sport within this calendar year.

Senior Physio Antoine was with British Gymnastics this weekend, appointed to the medical team for the British National Championships. The juniors competed Thursday and Friday with the main event on Saturday and Sunday where the GB Olympic stars challenged for the National Title 🏆🇬🇧

Physio Antoine has been providing service to British Gymnastics at national team training camps, National Championships and international tours for over 2 years now. In addition to his gymnastics expertise did you know that Antoine has wealth of experience in highly specialised areas:

This morning CSMC Director, Physio Matthew presented a concussion 🧠 workshop at Addenbrookes Hospital to about 50 doctors on the GP Training Programme.

Did you know that sitting in a dark room and avoiding all exercise after a concussion actually makes you WORSE, and significantly increases the likelihood of developing PCS!

CSMC is the only CCMI registered concussion practice in East Anglia. We are equipped with the expertise to manage your concussion to maximise recovery and long term brain health. We help with acute concussion management and with the resolution of long term PCS 🧠⛰️

Our expanded clinic and rehab gym is officially open ✂️🎉

Last week we hosted a grand opening event with orthopaedic surgeons, medical specialists, allied health professionals and fitness practitioners from across Cambridge.

In addition to a first look at the new facilities, attendees heard from our guest speakers , and , and a panel of CSMC patients who shared their rehab experiences. Then to conclude the formalities the new space was officially opened by the cutting of the ‘ribbon’!

Not only were we celebrating the expansion of our space, but also of our team! We welcome Eddie who was a Senior MSK physiotherapist at Addenbrookes Hospital and Ben who joins us in a few weeks from British Rowing. The objective and measurable expertise, qualifications and elite sport experience within the CSMC team is unrivalled in the Cambridge area. We have a 1st class facility, serviced by world class practitioners.
