🌸🌿 Getting Our Hands Dirty (in the Best Way!) 🌿🌸
This year, Astbury Mere is proudly taking part in the Porthaven Garden Challenge — and it’s become so much more than just a garden project… it’s a whole-home celebration! 🌼
From exciting trips to the garden centre with our residents 🌷, to our brave home trainer taking on wasps and spiders in the summer house 🐝🕷️ (true hero status!), everyone has played a part in bringing our outdoor space to life.
It’s been amazing to see our community come together — sharing laughs, stories, and fresh air — all while enjoying the beauty of nature right on our doorstep 🌞🌿

Spring has truly sprung, and we’ve been making the most of every golden moment! 🌼☀️
Over the past week, we’ve enjoyed some wonderful day trips to Biddulph Grange Park and Westport Lake – two beautiful spots that never fail to lift the spirits. From peaceful walks surrounded by blooming flowers to relaxing lunches in the fresh air, it’s been all about soaking up the sunshine and embracing nature at its finest.
These outings are more than just a change of scenery – they bring joy, spark memories, encourage gentle activity, and create meaningful moments shared with loved ones. Seeing smiles, hearing laughter, and feeling that sense of calm connection with the outdoors is what it’s all about.

✨ We’re all wild here… and we wouldn’t have it any other way! 🎩☕️

Our residents tumbled down the rabbit hole for a truly magical Alice in Wonderland-themed tea party, and what an unforgettable afternoon it was! From “Drink Me” delights to a wonderland of teas, there was every variety imaginable—perfectly paired with a delicious spread of cakes crafted by our incredible chefs 🍰💖

We spent the afternoon laughing, playing games, and enjoying a movie that brought the magic of Wonderland to life 🎬🐇 And of course, things got delightfully competitive with our marshmallow toss—who knew the Queen of Hearts would inspire such skill?!😄

With fabulous tea party hats, whimsical outfits, and smiles all around, it truly felt like we’d stepped into Wonderland itself. A day filled with fun and laughter ❤️

What a wonderful and busy week it’s been here at Astbury Mere Care Home!

Our residents have been out and about enjoying a fantastic visit to the Stockport Hat Museum, taking in the history and trying on different styles.

Back at home, there’s been plenty of fun and friendly competition too, with lively games of Scrabble and skittles alongside our friends from Macclesfield FC.

It’s been a week full of laughter, connection, and making special memories together 💛 We’re already looking forward to what next week brings!

Today, we are incredibly proud to share a very special achievement for our care home. We have successfully completed the Six Steps to Success End of Life Programme for Care Homes.

This recognition reflects our deep commitment to providing compassionate, person-centred care at every stage of life. Supporting individuals and their families during such an important time is a privilege we never take lightly, and this programme has strengthened our knowledge, skills, and confidence to do this with dignity, respect, and kindness.

We want to thank our dedicated team, whose empathy and professionalism make a difference every single day. This achievement belongs to each of them, and to the residents and families who trust us to care for their loved ones.
