Nigella Lawson has been officially announced as the new judge of The Great British Bake Off. in an interview with , she talks about over the years, exercise has helped the 66-year-old maintain her health and wellbeing. ‘I do yoga three times a week,’ she told Good Housekeeping. ‘I have to do something I enjoy, otherwise I wouldn’t do it. The older I get, the more I realise I have got to do lots of stretching. So even if I’m not doing yoga, I make myself do lots of stretching.’

Nigella favours Iyengar yoga, that highlights precision and correct positioning when performing postures, often using props like blocks and belts as support. For her, fitness is as much about overall wellbeing as it is about physical results.

‘As you get on in life, you value feeling well as opposed to looking well,’ she’s said

“Yoga certainly makes you feel great, and you want to carry on feeling great.”

Thanks to everyone who popped something into the Blood Bike charity pot that was at CIYC, I’m sure most of you know that I volunteer as a rider for the charity in Cheshire and Staffordshire.
They will be grateful for our donation which will go towards funding urgent deliveries for the NHS.

New Year means New beginnings for Congleton Iyengar Yoga, as we waved goodbye on 29th Dec after our last ever class in Century Mill, our home of 15 years…. Lou and Mark, helped by Annette and Caroline, set about vacating the studio filling 3 full van loads of equipment and furniture. The signs coming down bringing closure on our exit

So from January 2026 Iyengar Yoga continues in Congleton, with all our fabulous teachers…
We’re fortunate to have most our classes at the very lovely Chappell Centre in Mossley with only a few minor time changes. Monday evening is at the Masonic hall and Thursday evening is at St Stephen’s church hall

Bookwhen remains as the best place to see our current schedule and to book onto our classes and events

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas from all our teachers at CIYC, thanks for your support for our centre and classes throughout 2025.
