Today we celebrated Australia Day with a wonderful morning of sights, stories, and treats. Residents and staff enjoyed homemade Lamingtons and TimTams before setting off on a virtual trip around Western Australia, complete with boarding passes for their plane journey. Along the way, they watched clips from Perth City, Caversham Wildlife Park, the Pinnacles Desert all the way up to the Ningaloo Reef before ending the a tour around Fremantle Prison then boarding the ferry to reach Rottnest Island and a quick virtual cuddle with the happiest animals on the planet, Quokka’s. Activities coordinator Dawn also shared photos of her trip Down Under last year making the experience even more special. What a truly lovely morning 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🐨🦘🐨🦘

On Wednesday, we hosted our very first Care Cafe and were delighted to welcome volunteers from Beartown Rickshaw for a truly special visit. They shared how Beartown Rickshaw was set up, where the rides take place, and just how many rides and miles are completed each year. Care Cafes will now run every month, so keep following to see what’s up next. The Beartown Rickshaw rides will recommence in March taking our wonderful residents on trips around Congleton 🐻🛺
Parklane staff have also decided to get a team together to take part in the Rotary Clubs Swimathon raising money for Beartown Rickshaw. If you would like to sponsor the ladies, you can do so when you visit or via our Just Giving page 😊🌟🌟🛺

A handful of our fantastic team members dived into the Rotary International Rotary Club of Congleton Swimathon to help raise vital funds and support the incredible work they do in the local community.

Residents had a really fun morning today when Alex from Macclesfield Community Sports Trust, came in to play a game. Skittles🎳 were placed in a circle, then using a ball⚾️, we had to try and knock the skittles over. Everyone was cheering when someone knocked a skittle down🤗 and groaning when they missed☹️. It was a lovely happy morning, lots of residents were able to take part, and were very enthusiastic, which created a fantastic atmosphere🙂

What a lovely surprise Sheila had this afternoon, she went for a run out in the car with Jackie. We decided to go to Astbury Garden Centre,⚘️🌿 where we enjoyed having a walk around, Sheila spotted quite a number of nice things and was smitten with a Donkey called Jack🫏..she couldn't resist a little cuddle❤️. We then went to the cafe and enjoyed a latte☕️ before heading back to the car. It may have been a wet miserable day outside, but we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and have already discussed where we will be heading off to next😀

It has been a Special day today for resident Pauline, Mara made a lovely Birthday cake🎂 which she presented to Pauline. We all sung 'Happy Birthday', before the cake was cut and everyone enjoyed a slice🍰🙂

Our busy residents enjoyed a couple of wonderful trips to the theatre to see the Congleton Pantomime ‘Dick Whittington’ The performance followed Dick on his journey to London to make his fortune, help his mum Connie Codswollop, fall in love and meet his best friend, Tommy the Cat, with lots of enthusiastic “he’s behind you!” And “oh no he isn’t!” from the audience. 🎭🎭🎭
Mavis and Eileen were also lucky enough to be invited on stage after the performance, where they met Connie and had the opportunity to see the scenery up close. It was a truly memorable experience and a fantastic way to round off the festive season.
