πŸ“’ Important Update: Changes to the NHS Childhood Vaccination Schedule

From 1st July 2025, the NHS will be updating the childhood vaccination schedule to help protect children earlier and more effectively. A new appointment will be introduced at 18 months, starting 1st January 2026.

πŸ‘Ά These changes affect key vaccines like MMR, MenB, PCV, and Hib/MenC, and will apply to children born from 1st July 2024 onwards.

πŸ›‘οΈ What’s changing?
βœ… MenB vaccine will now be given at 12 weeks instead of 16
βœ… PCV will move to 16 weeks
βœ… The Hib/MenC vaccine at 12 months will be replaced by a Hib-containing vaccine at 18 months
βœ… MMR second dose will be given earlier, at 18 months
βœ… MenC will no longer be needed in the second year of life – protection will be provided through the MenACWY programme in Year 9

πŸ’‰ From 2026, there will be six routine vaccine appointments:
➑️ 8 weeks
➑️ 12 weeks
➑️ 16 weeks
➑️ 1 year
➑️ 18 months
➑️ 3 years 4 months

Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to protect children from serious illness. If you're unsure whether your child is up to date, speak to your GP.

Make the Most Out of Your GP Appointment
⏰ Arrive on time
Coming a few minutes early maximises your slot and helps everything run smoothly.

πŸ’¬ Focus on one issue
10 minutes goes quickly β€” talk about your most urgent concern first. If needed, we can book a follow-up.

πŸ“ Tell your story clearly
Explain when symptoms started and how they’ve progressed to save time.

How it Works
πŸ‘‚ You explain
πŸ” GP asks, examines, advises
πŸ—’οΈ Plan & questions

Why it Matters πŸ“£
⏳ Overrunning affects other patients, delays the team β€” and our clinicians often finish late. We’re all doing our best under NHS pressure, and your understanding helps us care for everyone.

⏳ Waiting for a Hospital Appointment or Treatment?

We know how tough it can be β€” especially if you're in pain or feeling anxious about your health.

πŸ’» You can check average waiting times here:
πŸ”— www.myplannedcare.nhs.uk

❓ What’s an β€˜Expedite’ Letter – and Does It Work?
You might be told to ask your GP for one, but hospital teams say they rarely change appointments based on these letters. Prioritisation is based on medical need, not requests.

πŸ“’ If your symptoms have changed or worsened (e.g. more pain, reduced mobility, hearing loss), contact your hospital team directly – they need to hear from you.

Today marks 80 years since VE Day – Victory in Europe Day πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

On 8 May 1945, the war in Europe came to an end and millions across the UK and beyond celebrated peace after years of hardship and sacrifice.

As we mark the 80th anniversary of this historic day, we invite you to pause with us for a two-minute silence at 12:00pm, to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who gave so much.

Let’s remember them – and the peace they helped secure.
