Something very special quietly arrived this week…

Not just crystals — stones with stories.

We’ve been unpacking Q’ero shaman stones from the Andes, grounding chakra stones, Chumpi mesa stones, unusual earth-formed minerals… and even meteorites that formed long before our planet had forests, oceans, or people.

Some feel warm in the hand.
Some feel heavy and anchoring.
Some feel strangely alive.

What’s interesting is they are not the same thing.

A healing crystal isn’t a Chumpi stone.
A Chumpi stone isn’t a ritual stone.
And a meteorite… well, that didn’t even come from Earth.

Over the next few days we’re adding clearer descriptions to help you understand the differences — what they are, where they come from, and how they’re traditionally used. No fluff, just simple explanations so you can choose what genuinely calls you.

If you’ve ever wondered why some stones feel peaceful and others feel powerful — this is why.

You can explore the different types here:

Sometimes the stone picks you.

Natural Incense Sticks, Resins & Smudge — Traditional Botanical Scents

Over 300 natural incenses to explore
Sticks • Cones • Backflow waterfall incense • Loose herbs • Smudge wands • Sacred resins • Gums • Charcoal discs

Walking into the incense shelves can feel a bit like a spice market… beautiful — but where do you even start?

You don’t actually need to choose by brand.
Start with the feeling you want in your space.

• Want comfort and warmth?
• Need to clear heavy energy?
• A calmer evening?
• Help settling your mind before sleep?

Then choose your scent family.

Frankincense & Copal — traditional cleansing resins used to reset a room
Sandalwood — grounding, peaceful and steady
Floral blends — gentle and uplifting
Deep woods & earthy scents — warm and anchoring

Many people worry incense will be overpowering.

Traditional natural incense is actually very different from synthetic fragrance.
The scent is softer, layered and subtle — more like natural woods, warm resins and herbs rather than a strong perfume. It sits in the room as a gentle background atmosphere instead of filling the air with a heavy smell.

Everything we stock is traditional incense.
Natural plant resins, woods and herbs.

No harsh chemicals.
No artificial room-spray smell.
Just incense the way it has always been used.

Incense isn’t just fragrance — it quietly changes how a room feels.

We’ve organised everything so you can browse either by type or by scent and actually find what suits you.

Healing Crystal Tumblestones — Smooth Polished Bright & Dark Stones

Healing crystal tumblestones are polished natural stones shaped smooth so they can be comfortably held, carried, placed under a pillow, or kept on a desk or altar. Because they are handled often, they are one of the easiest ways to work with crystals — you don’t need experience, rituals, or special knowledge to begin.

They are also commonly known as pocket stones, worry stones, palm stones or even good luck stones. Many people simply keep one in a pocket, bag or beside the bed, gently holding or rubbing the stone during the day. The smooth surface makes them calming to touch, which is why they are often used for grounding, comfort and focus.

You’ll notice they naturally fall into two broad groups.

Lighter, clearer and more luminous crystals tend to feel uplifting and cleansing. Stones such as Selenite are often chosen to refresh a room, settle emotions, or clear the atmosphere after a long day. Many people place them in bedrooms, therapy spaces, or meditation areas to bring a lighter, calmer feeling.

Darker crystals serve a different purpose. Black Obsidian, Onyx and natural tektites are grounding and protective stones. Rather than lifting energy, they anchor it. These are the stones people are drawn to during stressful periods, busy work environments, emotional overwhelm, or when sleep feels unsettled. They are commonly carried as a pocket stone or kept beside the bed at night.

Neither type is “stronger” — they simply do different jobs. One clears. One protects. Many people naturally end up using both.

If you are unsure which crystal to choose, that is completely normal. Tumblestones are often selected intuitively — the one you keep noticing is usually the right place to start.

How to Use a Tumblestone

There is no strict method and you can’t really do it wrong. Tumblestones work best through simple, regular contact.

Many people carry a stone as a pocket stone during the day, holding it in the hand when feeling anxious, distracted or overwhelmed. The smooth polished surface gives the mind something gentle to focus on, which naturally helps the body settle.

At night, some choose to place a stone beside the bed or under a pillow to create a calmer sleeping space. Others keep one on a desk while working, in a treatment room, or on an altar or quiet corner of the home.

You may also notice you instinctively rub or hold the stone without thinking — this is very common. Over time the stone becomes familiar to you and many people begin to associate it with grounding, reassurance and balance.

There is no need for complicated rituals. Simply keep the stone nearby, handle it often, and allow it to become part of daily life.

FAQS

Which crystal should a beginner start with?
A good starting point is usually a gentle, neutral stone such as Clear Quartz, Amethyst or Rose Quartz. These are easy to live with and many people find them calming and supportive without feeling intense.

Which crystals are used for protection?
Black stones are traditionally chosen for protection and grounding. Black Obsidian, Onyx and natural tektites are commonly carried as pocket stones, especially in busy environments or during stressful periods.

Which crystals are used for sleep?
Many people prefer calming stones beside the bed such as Amethyst, Howlite or a small Selenite nearby in the room (rather than directly under the pillow). They are often used to help the mind slow down before sleep.

Do I need to cleanse my crystal?
Some people like to periodically place crystals in daylight, moonlight, or near Selenite to refresh them. However, the most important thing is simply keeping the stone somewhere clean and handled with intention.

Can I carry more than one crystal?
Yes. Many people naturally carry a lighter stone for calming and a darker stone for grounding together — for example Rose Quartz with Black Obsidian.

Coniston Festival Week – We’re Open (with a little heads-up )💙✨💫

MAY FESTIVAL 2026
The middle of May brings a very special energy back to the village — the return of Donald Campbell’s Bluebird K7 to Coniston Water for the Bluebird Festival Week
8th – 17th May 2026

Throughout the week the boat is expected to run daily on the lake, and by the weekend the village gently turns into a celebration… live music, gatherings, and that unmistakable feeling Coniston gets when everyone arrives at once.

Sacred Essence will be open as usual — with extended hours.
You are absolutely welcome to visit us and the shop will still have direct pedestrian access.

A few practical bits to help you plan:

• Access to the shop remains available
• Parking is available but short stay only
• No vehicles can be left and no overnight parking
• The village will be very busy all week (especially Friday, Saturday & Sunday afternoons and evenings)

The best visiting time will likely be earlier in the day, before the music events begin each evening.

Festival music tickets and event information are organised via the Bluebird Museum (see our earlier shared link).

We’re really looking forward to seeing familiar faces and new ones — whether you’re coming for the lake, the music, or simply a quiet moment of calm in the middle of a lively week.
Pop in, say hello, and take a breath with us.

See you soon,

The Medicine Wheel
The Way of the Shaman

A grounded, sacred training for these times

One of the greatest gifts of this work is the opportunity to share the beautiful, living practices that have been passed to us by the Q’ero medicine people of Peru.

Through this lineage, we have rediscovered something many of us knew as children but forgot along the way:
the sweetness of life, the innocence of the heart, the sacredness of all living things, and the profound truth that healing begins within.

This is the essence of the medicine we offer — not as something exotic or “other”, but as a way of living that restores us to who we truly are.

Some who walk this path go on to become shamanic practitioners and healers.
Many simply become more human — more present, more grounded, more loving — and quietly become the change the world is asking for.

Shamanism, re-imagined for today

In the Western world, the word shaman has often carried misunderstanding, projection, and even shame.
Ancient healing traditions were pushed to the margins, forced underground, and labelled as superstition or “quackery”.

Yet shamanism is older than religion.
It is humanity’s original spiritual technology — rooted in relationship with the Earth, with nature, with the unseen, and with the wisdom of the soul.

For a long time, even I wrestled with how to stand openly in this work.
How do we speak about healing in a culture that has been trained to outsource it — to doctors, therapists, institutions — while forgetting the intelligence of the soul?

And yet, time and again, I have seen what happens when people remember.

A return to innocence — and responsibility

What moved me most deeply when I encountered the Inca medicine tradition was its lack of focus on the past.

The question is not “What happened to you?”
The question is:
Who are you becoming?
What are you here to contribute?

This is a tradition that looks forward — towards the generations yet to come.

When we remember ourselves as caretakers of the Earth,
when we walk the path of Love — not sentimental love, but the fierce, creative force that brought all life into being —
when we live in service, with awareness of the part we play in shaping our world…

hope becomes practical.
And change becomes embodied.

The Medicine Wheel: a path you can walk

The Medicine Wheel is not about escaping life — it is about meeting life fully.

It offers:

grounded, practical tools you can use every day

simple yet powerful practices for clearing, healing, and alignment

a way to live the sacred in ordinary life

deep reconnection with nature, community, and your own inner knowing

Above all, it invites you into a lived experience, not a belief system.

People who join us often say the same words:
grounded · simple · practical · sacred · stillness · innocence · beauty · aliveness · community

And always… “I didn’t realise how much I was longing for this.”

If you feel the call…

If something in you is stirring as you read this, please don’t wait for the mythical moment when everything is “ready”.

There will always be another reason to delay.
Another responsibility.
Another year.

And yet beneath all of that your creative self is waiting.
The part of you that knows why you are here.
The part that longs to live a soul-led life.

I know this because I nearly didn’t say yes myself.

Thanks to the quiet encouragement of those who believed in me, I did, and it changed everything.
I am living the life my soul came here to live.
And I continue to grow, to learn, and to sing the song that brought me into this world.

This could be you, too.

We start a new cycle of The Medicine Wheel in April in uk and in March in Romania .

By this time next year:

you could be trained as a shamanic practitioner (if that is your path)

you could be standing at the threshold of a new version of yourself

you could be living with greater clarity, purpose, and connection

Or… life could look much the same as it does now.

The choice is always yours.

What I do know is this:
there is a profound shift in consciousness happening and those who feel it are being called to step forward, not later, but now.

If you feel that call, you are warmly welcome to walk this path with us.
