Thank you all so much for your kind comments, emails and messages yesterday and today.
A quick update - I’m pain free with just a bit of swelling on the side of my face where the grafting was done. I still have antibiotics to take and I need to be careful with food but I’m allowed proper tea and soup today!
I’m sitting here with my books and knitting and I’ll be doing some marking and planning for my courses this afternoon as well . I really do feel like a fraud for not being up there teaching over the next couple of days!

I’m having a break from teaching this week after minor surgery but we are back to normal from Sunday 12th October
Please note the new venue and time for the Sunday morning session.

Yoga is a great way to ease out the stresses and strains of everyday life.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been on your feet all day, been confined to the office or are just feeling the after effects of overdoing it in the garden or cleaning the house, the gentle movements , breath awareness and time in relaxation will help you release those physical tensions and calm your frazzled mind.

I’m a British Wheel of Yoga trained teacher with over 16 years experience of bringing yoga to local community spaces to share with people just like you!
If you’d like to join me at one of my classes you can drop me an email to jacquigunnionyoga@gmail.com or book your class online at jacqui-gunnion-yoga.co.uk
I’d love to meet you there.

Quick reminder there are no classes between now and the weekend .
My dental procedure is today and I am listening to my dentist and applying Patanjali’s Yamas to the whole process!
My dentist says it’s going to be painful (!) and I need to take time to heal.
That ties in to
* Ahimsa (Non Harming) Giving myself permission for some time off and self care without feeling guilty about it!
* Satya (Truthfulness) accepting the reality of the situation and following the expertise of my dentist in these matters
* Asteya ( Not taking what isn’t mine) Not trying to “steal back” things that I want like eating normal food too soon.
* Brahmacharya (Using resources wisely) Resting when I need to - also maybe making batches of soup from the sorry looking veg at the bottom of the drawer as that’s all I’ll be eating for the next few days! (see above!) 😜
Aparigraha (Non Grasping after Outcome) Settling in and following the process.
In the meantime you can keep in touch by signing up to my newsletter via my website or simply by liking and following this page!

Welcome to October and my Autumn classes.
This month we’ll be very much drawing the attention inwards as we head towards a quieter, much more reflective time of year.
I love the cosiness of October!
Not cold enough or dark enough to be thinking of winter but enough of a shift to be settling into that comfortable and tranquil way of being.
Right now I’ve finished my morning class and I’m home sipping my tea and listening to the patter of rain on the window.
What are you up to today?

Same great content but from the comfort of your own living room!

White elephants in Western culture are associated to items that are often expensive but useless.
Not so in Yoga!
The white elephant is the animal linked to Vishuddhi chakra at the throat.
It symbolises purity, transcendence and self realisation.
The grey elephant of the root chakra (Muladhara) has done its job and removed all of the obstacles so now we can recognise unity, our place in the world around us and our connections to that world.
In classes this week we’ll be looking at how we can create unity by bringing things together.
We’ll take the 3 parts of the yoga breath that we’ve been working with over the last few sessions into Mahat Pranayama - a single practice.
We’ll also be looking at ideas of how postures can come together and create a gentle, harmonious flow.
I do hope you’ll join me. The first session of the week is tonight in St Cuthberts Church Hall Shotley Bridge at 7pm.

I loved this post from “Undoing Yoga”. It sums up perfectly why working with the version of an asana that suits your body is so important! Yoga isn’t about ”making shapes” it’s about finding your way home!
