πŸ“’ Temporary Overnight Closure – Shotley Bridge Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)

From mid-July 2025, the UTC at Shotley Bridge Community Hospital will temporarily close overnight (12am–8am) for three months.

πŸ›‘ Why is this happening?
To keep services safe and reliable for patients and staff. Overnight shifts have been hard to staff consistently β€” with 65 overnight closures since January, and nearly 100 more nights where staff had to be reassigned to protect daytime care.

πŸ“‰ On average, only five people attend overnight, while most patients come between 8am and midnight. By focusing resources during those hours, we can provide safer, more dependable care.

πŸ’‘ What to do if you need help overnight:
βœ”οΈ Use NHS 111 online or call 111 (open 24/7)
βœ”οΈ For serious or life-threatening issues, go to A&E at University Hospital of North Durham

πŸ“Œ This change is not related to the New Hospital Programme – it's a temporary safety measure only.

πŸ—£οΈ Have your say
Come to our engagement session:
πŸ“… Monday 7 July
πŸ•“ 4pm–5pm
πŸ“ Previous canteen area, Shotley Bridge Community Hospital

πŸ“¬ Got questions or feedback?
πŸ“§ Email: cddft.shotleyhospital@nhs.net

πŸ™ Thank you for your understanding as we work to keep services safe and sustainable.
