Name it. Claim it. Honour it. Tame it.
What to do when the mechanisms that your subconscious cleverly put in place to keep you safe, when you didn’t have the capacity to rationalise, understand & process your experiences + emotions no longer serve you.
What we experience from 0-7ys, can have a huge impact on the way we then go on to respond to + navigate life.
Because during these formative years we are sponges, absorbing what ever we are being shown, whatever we hear, and whatever we experience.
My own experiences as a child, required me to adopt protective mechanisms & behaviours which showed up later on in life, affecting my relationships and what I believed about myself.
These looked like; reactivate responses, avoidance, unavailability and beliefs such as unworthiness & not - enoughness .
So how do we tame & transform these parts of ourselves?
Name it💫
I believe we need to first bring awareness to them through reflection, self enquiry & exploration.
Claim it💫
We can often sit in the victim role, however, in this state we give away our power. Reclaiming your power by taking agency is fundamental to the process.
Honour it💫
It’s all about Compassion. By honouring these parts that were created to keep us safe, thanking them, blessing them and telling them we no longer require them.
Tame it💫
Using mindful practises such as yoga, meditation & journaling to connect to ourselves fully, helps bring more awareness to our everyday. Allowing opportunity to pause & reflect before acting from our usual unconscious activated ‘triggered’ state.
