The Charlotte Straker Project is a 32 bedded care home in Corbridge. We offer high quality residential and nursing care for those over 65.

We also offer a free of charge, respite care room for short term respite breaks funded by charitable donations. The Charlotte Straker Project is a 32 bed charitable care home and offers residential, nursing and respite care to the elderly and frail. As a not for profit care home any surplus profit is reinvested back into the organisation for the benefit of our residents. We concentrate on supporting our residents and fundraising for necessary equipment, activities and resources. We also support some of our local authority residents by funding the fee shortfall - the difference between the amount the local authority pays for care and the actual cost of care. We also offer 8 supported living bungalows in our grounds. Our dedicated, well trained team ensure that individuals living in this well-equipped and comfortable accommodation receive attention all day, every day which enhances quality of life for the elderly frail in our care. Charlotte Straker House provides a “home for life” and we care for residents from the moment they arrive and for the rest of their lives, giving security to both residents and their families.

Corbridge Bridge Club Raises over £280💙

We are incredibly grateful to Corbridge Bridge Club for their generous donation of £281 to The Charlotte Straker Project, raised through their Christmas raffle in December. The raffle included a wonderful selection of local prizes and vouchers, and the funds raised will go directly towards supporting our residents and the ongoing work of our home.

Peggy and Sara from the club recently visited us to present the donation and learn more about how their support will make a real difference. It was lovely to welcome them both.

A big thank you to everyone who donated prizes - your kindness helped make the raffle such a success.

Corbridge Bridge Club meets twice a week at Corbridge Parish Hall and is always delighted to welcome new members. If you enjoy bridge and being part of a friendly community group, they would love to see you there ♠️💙

Good Luck, Zoe! ✈️

This week we said goodbye to our Care Assistant, Zoe, as she begins an exciting new role at Newcastle Airport!

Zoe has been a huge part of our home and will be missed by the whole team and our residents. Her kindness and friendly smile have meant so much to everyone here at Charlotte Straker House.

The good news is that this isn’t a real goodbye! As a trained hairdresser, Zoe will still be returning to our salon to keep our residents’ hair appointments going - something we know they’ll be very pleased about 💇‍♀️

Valentine’s Celebrations at Charlotte Straker House💗

In preparation for Valentine’s Day, our residents enjoyed a heart-shaped biscuit decorating session - and what a creative afternoon it was!

Everyone designed their own biscuits, choosing their favourite icing colours and adding plenty of sweet decorations. From beautifully neat designs to colourful creations, each one was completely unique (and delicious!).

The Valentine’s-inspired celebrations continue today with a special lunch, including chocolate-covered fruit for dessert, followed by a Film Club screening of Pillow Talk starring Doris Day - the perfect romantic classic to enjoy together. 🍿💕

Corbridge Charity Fashion Show & Raffle – Tickets Now Available! ✨👗

Not only can you enjoy an evening of fashion, fun, and local style at the Corbridge Charity Fashion Show on Thursday 23rd April 2026, but you can also try your luck in the amazing raffle!

Prizes include designer sunglasses worth over £200 from Croft and Graves Optometrists, Jewellery from Kirsty Taylor Goldsmiths, a framed art print from M J Forster Gallery, a unique hand-woven scarf, and many more fantastic items. 🎁

Tickets are on sale now for both the fashion show and the raffle. They are available from participating shops, Charlotte Straker House and Corbridge Youth Initiative, with the draw taking place on the night of the show.

Burns Night Ceilidh in Corbridge Raises Over £2,300 for Local Charities! 🎶

Nearly 100 guests came together at Corbridge Parish Hall on Saturday 31st January for a fantastic evening of food, music, and dancing. Highlights included a traditional Burns Night supper with the haggis piped in by Chris Irwin, homemade pies prepared by Head Cook Louise, and lively dancing with the Northern Lights Ceilidh Band. 💃🎻

This year’s event raised over £2,300, shared between The Charlotte Straker Project and Chrysalis Club. The funds will help support residents and the wider community, including people living with dementia and their carers.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, donated prizes, or contributed. Your support made the evening such a success! The Burns Night Ceilidh looks set to remain a firm favourite in Corbridge’s community calendar. 💙

New Fortnightly Film Club! 📽️

We were excited to launch our new fortnightly Film Club at the home, giving residents the chance to relax, watch a good film, and enjoy great company – perfect for the weekends! Our first screening was Goodnight Mister Tom on Sunday 8th February, kindly led by our volunteer David. Ice cream was served to make the experience even sweeter!🍦

We are hoping the Film Club will be a wonderful way to spark conversation, share memories, and build community. Posters around the home will show future screenings so everyone can see what’s coming next.

We’re looking forward to this becoming a regular highlight!💙

Cheering on Isaac! 🏃

This May, we’ll be proudly cheering on Isaac, a Leeds University student who is taking on the Leeds Half Marathon in support of The Charlotte Straker Project.

Isaac has chosen to fundraise for our charity following a very personal family experience. His Grandma recently moved into Charlotte Straker House, and Isaac and his family have been incredibly grateful for the care, kindness and welcoming environment she has received. Knowing how daunting this transition can be, it has meant a great deal to them that she now feels truly at home. In Isaac’s words, Charlotte Straker House offers “plenty going on, fantastic caring and attentive staff, and a warm, homely feel.” We are so thankful that he has chosen to take on this challenge to support our work.

All funds raised will go towards our Development Fund, helping us continue to improve our home, support meaningful activities, and enrich the lives of our residents. Isaac’s target is £250 — and with your support, we know he can smash it! 💙

Corbridge Charity Fashion Show – Tickets Now Available! 👗✨

Tickets are on sale from today (2nd February) for the popular Corbridge Charity Fashion Show, taking place on Thursday 23rd April 2026.

The evening runs from 7.00pm to 9.30pm, with doors opening at 6.00pm for browsing before the show begins. Guests can look forward to a fabulous night celebrating local style, with fashion walks featuring collections from Croft and Graves Optometrists, Sarah Thomson, Vintage at the Tower, Jessie Juniper, Finale Shoes and Accessories, Chapter 38, and Shorts of Corbridge.

All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting The Charlotte Straker Project and Corbridge Youth Initiative, helping to fund vital work in our local community.

Tickets are available directly from all participating traders.

Alongside the fashion, there will be an incredible raffle, with prizes including designer sunglasses worth over £200, a stay at a family cottage in Yorkshire, £50 retail vouchers, a one-of-a-kind hand-woven shawl, and many more generous donations. Raffle tickets are also on sale from today via all traders involved, Charlotte Straker House, and Corbridge Youth Initiative, with the draw taking place on the night.
