For context, my study group in unified mindfulness gets together once a week to test and feed back to each other by giving a strictly timed 5 min talk in either;

1. An explanation of a technique

2. A guided meditation of that technique

3. Handle questions and reports from students attempting that technique.

In this scenario, Brayden has already given a guide and said something a bit weird about 'imagining undulating seaweed' or lava lamps or something like that. We all knew it landed like a brick.

It's now my turn to answer questions, so he's now made me into the role of the teacher who said weird stuff, and he's become a student asking about it, so I'm in a position of explaining his own gibberish to him.

Not bad for an on the spot challenge 🤔

As you may know, I’ve been incorporating mindfulness into my life since I was a lost, emotional windbag in my early 20s.

Mindfulness, and related meditation, has been an incredible resource for me as Idealt with life’s daily stresses...but also as a guide in simply enjoying life more fully.

Sensory experiences are richer, communications are clearer, and relationships aremore blissful when mindfulness is brought into the equation.

As I moved away from my officey day job early this year, I saw the opportunity to more thoroughly dive into my mindfulness practice and begin a long-held goal of becoming a Mindfulness Coach for others to benefit in ways personal to them.

It’s been an incredible time of growth, even in the midst of a lot of recent changes, and I’ve now close to completing an exceptionally thorough and insightful coaching program within the Unified Mindfulness system.

At the end of training this summer, I will be offering an 8 week practicum coaching class as a portfolio for my certification. It will be an opportunity for a small group of interested people to learn more about mindfulness and meditation,and how both can play a role in your daily life.

If you’ve thought about meditation, but were not sure where to start, this is for you.

If you’ve been concerned that you don’t have the time to meditate for an houra day, this is for you (10 mins/day is the ask here).

If you’ve tried meditation before but couldn’t quite keep focused on your breath or a mantra, this is also for you (I’ll be introducing 5 different techniques over the 8 weeks so you can pick and choose a bit here).

I’m looking for people who are sincerely interested in this class. There will be one 60ish minute Zoom class a week for 8 weeks. To cover the time, online fees etc., I would ask for £40 for the entire course (as opposed to per individual counselling session in future)

You’ll be asked to work with the techniques taught in class for 10 minutes each day as homework, which will be enough to establish your meditation practice.

I’m leaning towards a Tuesday early evening class (5pm-6pm). So think about it, and let me know if you think this is the exact right thing at the exact right time for you. I’m sincerely excited to start coaching unified mindfulness, and would be more than honoured if you decided to join this class.

Honesty hour ☕

I don't do mindfulness because I'm a chill guy, I'm a chill guy because I do mindfulness.

Hopefully.

I nearly started a fight in a supermarket purely because the constant lack of awareness was beyond the pale.

I don't go to Andys Man Club Corby because of the donuts, I go because I need to empty my bucket of the weekly sh!tstains built up on my prefrontal cortex, and don't want to be the person in their mid thirties throwing a tantrum over tinned beans.

What burns me down to my wick isn't the biggest atrocities, but the smallest displays of zero empathy. (I'm aware of the irony). Bullying, tailgating, pushing in, and generally not seeing 3 seconds ahead because 'only I exist and no one else matters'.

So whenever someone writes a gorgeous review about me being caring, inviting, a good listener, made sure to find all the problems etc., I hope that's true. Because it's practiced, and often still feels like a big fake.

I'm an optimist, and see things and people and processes getting better all the time, but I'm also a human being and a total fûkhead. I hope the latter isn't too obvious, and I continually aim to help others where I've been helped.

Sorry I've been pretty absent from any relevant business posts, Ive just been busy having some really really ridiculously lovely new clients this month.

But I'm excited to remember that tomorrow (Sat 19th) I'll be at the Grampian Summer beach party!

I'm not sure how the Grampian feels about public partial nudity, so I'll mostly be there to answer any questions on aches and pains, treatments, mindfulness coaching, and taking future bookings.

Also Andys Man Club Corby will be there on the actual nice outdoorsy bit, so come and show some support for an effing great team ❤️

It's WIP WEDNESDAY! what are you working on this week? Any books, jobs, gym progress, just got out of bed, let us know in the comments 👇☕

I had a profound learning experience with a fibromyalgia client, with every pain receptor firing at a thousand times the rate of most bods.

It was a real map reading exercise getting feedback on how different angles on my palms, knuckles, forearms and elbows at the same depth can feel like totally different pressures.

It was also a challenge as the lower back needed some decent pressure to allow the QL to be teased out of its shortened position, but the pain wouldn't allow it.

The answer was a helluva long warmup with long myofacial strokes, no poley trigger point stuff, and eventually the whole lumbar responded really well.

I'm also loving my new ADB book, which is going the same way as every Aaron Demski Bowden novel, super human daddy issues in space with interplanetary atrocities, but with the occasional normal person to give it all relatable scope.
