Me and Denver in the woods… and I didn’t realise how long it’s been since I let myself do this.

Within minutes my nervous system softens — my breath slows, my chest feels lighter, and I feel grounded and free again.

When I get home I’m making a little aromatherapy blend for a hot bubble bath — something for tired, aching muscles, grounding for the soul, and gentle support for a headache.

Your nervous system needs rest more than you think.

When life stays “busy,” your body can get stuck in survival mode — even if nothing is actively “wrong.”

The 4 stress responses:
• Fight: snappy, tense jaw/shoulders, can’t switch off
• Flight: restless, overthinking, always doing
• Freeze: numb, exhausted, procrastination, shutdown
• Fawn: people-pleasing, over-giving, anxious to keep the peace

Where the vagus nerve comes in:
Your vagus nerve is the body’s “safety signal.” When it’s supported, your system shifts toward rest + digest — calmer breath, softer muscles, steadier hormones, better sleep.

How massage helps:
Gentle, rhythmic touch + slow breathing can support vagal tone and tell your body: “You’re safe now.” That’s when tension finally has permission to release.

✨ Try this now (30 seconds):

Inhale through the nose for 4… exhale for 6… repeat x3. Longer exhales = more safety cues.
