I know, I know… it’s only February 😅 but is anyone else already feeling those early signs of hay fever creeping in?! 🌸🤧
Every year it starts around now for me — and as I’ve got older, I’ve realised I’m especially sensitive to tree pollen 🌳💨. Some trees are already blossoming, others are budding, and a few are well on their way… and my immune system is definitely noticing!
This past week I’ve had itchy, watery eyes 👀💦, a runny nose 🤧, a croaky throat 😵💫 and even a slight headache (a brand-new addition 🙃).
So yes… out come the trusty herbal remedies! 🌿✨
Hay fever is incredibly common and affects both children and adults. It usually begins in early spring and can last well into summer, as grasses, trees, and weeds release high levels of pollen 🌼🌾. When these particles enter the respiratory tract, they trigger histamine release and inflammation — causing all the classic symptoms: runny nose, mucous, itchy or streaming eyes, and plenty of sneezing fits 😮💨🤧.
🌿✨ Treatment Aims & Objectives ✨🌿
💚 Reduce histamine response & soothe inflammation
💛 Alleviate the primary symptoms (eyes, nose, throat!)
💜 Strengthen and support overall immunity
🌸🌿 Your Natural Hay Fever Support Plan 🌿🌸
i. Anti–Hay Fever Tea 🍵🌼
This is the very first remedy we reach for when it comes to both preventing and managing hay fever.
If you know you're prone to seasonal allergies, start sipping this famous herbal blend from February onwards to help minimise symptoms once April rolls around. Your future self will thank you! 😄💛 I can make a blend of this for you.
ii. Guduchi 🌿✨
One of the most treasured herbs in Ayurveda, Guduchi shines for its natural anti-histamine properties and its ability to calm allergic reactions.
Take 1500mg twice daily (once with breakfast and once with dinner) starting in February and continuing through to the end of summer.
It’s a powerhouse for easing seasonal sensitivities! 💚💫
iii. Raw Local Honey 🍯🌼
Taking 2 teaspoons daily of raw, locally produced honey from February onwards can help de-sensitise the body to local pollens before spring arrives. See Bee Man for this.
A simple, sweet and natural way to reduce symptoms — and delicious too! 😋💛🐝
iv. Eye Symptoms 👀💧 – Soothe With Chamomile
If streaming, itchy or “jellied” eyes are your weak point during hay fever season, warm chamomile compresses can bring instant bliss.
✨ Add two chamomile tea bags to a cup
✨ Pour over boiling water
✨ Let them infuse until warm
✨ Squeeze out excess water
✨ Place one bag over each closed eye for 15 minutes
Repeat whenever needed — absolute heaven for irritated eyes! 😌🌼
