Dear mama
Remember back in March when you picked your little ones up from nursery and school?
When you, with a quivering lip told them that they wouldn’t be going back for a while. When you couldn’t bare to stop them cuddling their friends so you turned a blind eye just this one last time.
When you said goodbye to your school mum friends, the friends you didn’t realise you would miss so much. The friends whose stolen 5 minute quick chats whilst wrestling school bags and lunch boxes you only now realise were the only thing holding you up some mornings.
Do you remember pretending to be brave so that your children wouldn’t worry? Do you remember planning school days and wiping Amazon Prime of all it’s stationary and workbooks to assist you in your new role? Seeing groups pop up on Facebook full of wonderful teaching ideas, so much better than yours and vowing to try it next week or maybe the one after that?
Do you remember how hard it was juggling working from home, full time parenting and trying to teach your children things you’d long forgotten? Stretching yourself so thin you didn’t have anything left to give so sometimes you had a little cry once they’d gone to bed but always got up the next day with a smile to try and get it right all over again?
Do you remember how brave, strong, resourceful, resilient and all round incredible you are?
You have come out the other side, YOU carried your whole family out the other side. You have loved them, held them, been brave for them. You have fed them (ALL. THE. SNACKS!) and taught them and kept them going even when you couldn’t keep going yourself. YOU did all that.
So this week when you hand your children back to school and nursery take a breath, smile and look at what you did. Watch your child full of confidence, excitement and tales of how many dog poos they saw on their daily walk and tell yourself well bloody done because remember that time the world went t**s up but you survived.
Well done mama 😘
