Tired of feeling tired? 😴

Over the weekend I watched this ITV Tonight investigation into our national fatigue epidemic. While there are many factors, one of the most powerful tools we have to improve sleep quality is Mindfulness. By calming the nervous system, we don’t just rest; we actually recover.

In case last Friday’s International Day of Happiness passed you by, don't worry, you aren't alone! 😊

I wanted to share a quick summary of their brilliant advice on social media consumption. It’s not about quitting the apps, but about using them more wisely 🦉:

📱 Mindful Minutes: Treating social media like a 'snack' rather than a main meal. Setting a timer helps keep it intentional.

🤝 Real Connection: Using these apps to actually talk to people or make offline plans, rather than just passively watching lives go by.

✨ The 'Feel-Good' Feed: Unfollowing things that spark comparison and following things that spark joy (Bloom-scrolling > Doom-scrolling!).

Small, thoughtful choices really do add up. Wishing you all a happy (and mindful) week ahead! 🌿

Sunnier times are on the horizon🌤️
As we move through March, we can finally feel the shift. The days are stretching out, the first buds are appearing, and there’s a sense of renewal in the air. But while the world outside is brightening up, it’s common to still feel a bit stuck in the winter of our own minds, carrying the heavy clouds of stress, anxiety, or physical and emotional pain.

This June, let’s make sure your internal landscape matches the sunshine outside 🌞

Starting Monday, June 1st, I’m hosting an 8-week Mindfulness Course at Gastard Village Hall. It’s a chance to transition from "just getting through it" to truly blooming 🌻

Together, we’ll learn how to clear the mental fog and cultivate a sense of inner warmth and resilience that lasts long after the summer solstice.

The Details
When: Mondays, starting June 1st (8-week course)

Time: 10:45 AM – 12:45 PM

Where: Gastard Village Hall

Investment: £260

Think of these two hours each Monday morning as your sanctuary, a dedicated space to soften the impact of pain and find your quiet centre just as the world begins its summer hum.

Ready to bring the sunshine inside? 🌿

Spaces are kept limited to ensure our group remains cozy, supportive, and peaceful. To secure your spot or ask a question, please visit https://www.corshamcounselling.co.uk/mindfulness-courses or send me a DM.

Let’s move through March with intention, together. 🌿

As we step into a new month, I wanted to share this Mindful March calendar from Action for Happiness. In our busy lives, it’s so easy to switch to "autopilot." These daily prompts are gentle invitations for us to pause, breathe, and reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

Mindfulness isn't about clearing our minds, it's about being present with whatever is there, with kindness.

✨If you find these daily practices helpful and would like to dive deeper, I’ll be running a dedicated 8-week Mindfulness Course starting on the 1st of June at Gastard Village Hall. It’s a supportive space to move beyond "autopilot" and learn tools for lasting well-being.

Week One: Done. 🌿
We’ve just wrapped up the first session of our mindfulness course, and I couldn't be more impressed by our small but perfectly formed Mindful Mondays community. It’s a thoughtful, engaged group, and the atmosphere in the room is already so supportive.

This week, we focused on waking up to our experience. Instead of moving through the day on autopilot, we explored what happens when we intentionally engage all our senses. We also took some time to discuss the foundational attitudes: like patience and non-judging, that help us stay grounded.

A huge thank you to everyone for such a meaningful start. See you next week!

Better Together. ✨

Love this calendar from Action for Happiness, leading their campaign.

Humans are wired for connection. From a lower risk of depression to a boost in heart health, our relationships are the foundation of our wellbeing.

Whether it’s a long-overdue coffee date or simply smiling at someone on your morning walk, every interaction counts. Connection is a muscle, the more we use it, the stronger our community (and our mental health) becomes.

Take a moment today to bridge the gap. Reach out, check-in, and stay connected.

Noticing the quieter impacts of gender expectations. 🫣

This article highlights how ongoing exposure to sexism isn’t just emotionally difficult, the chronic stress it creates can affect mental and physical health over time.

In counselling, I often see how being dismissed, undervalued, or expected to conform to certain roles quietly accumulates and impacts wellbeing.

It’s also important to recognise that rigid gender expectations can harm men too, limiting emotional expression, discouraging help-seeking, and increasing pressure to cope alone.

Noticing these patterns, calling them out when we can, and seeking support if you feel impacted really matters. These experiences are not “just part of life” and no one has to carry them on their own. 📣💪☺️

Subtle sexism that pervades everyday life often gets shrugged off. But research shows it can still have lasting psychological effects – including "thinning" parts of the brain.
