Ever wondered why some runners look smooth and effortless… while others look like they’re working twice as hard? 👣

A big part of that comes down to foot placement.

When you overstride (landing with your foot too far in front of your body), you’re effectively putting the brakes on with every step. That forward reach creates extra impact, slows your momentum, and makes running less efficient.

Watch the difference when runners land beneath their centre of mass. The contact is quicker, lighter, and sets up a clean, powerful push-off behind them, not a braking force in front.

It’s a small shift in awareness, but it can transform how efficient, how comfortable AND how fast you are! 🏃🏼

The answer… a LOT!

Alongside a detailed discussion about your training history, lifestyle, previous or current injuries, training goals, and weekly training volume, we also assess key movement patterns and angles to build a FULL picture of how you run, and where we can help you improve!

Here’s what we look at:

Initial Contact:
• Foot strike
• Knee angle
• Tibial inclination angle

Mid-Stance:
• Knee angle
• Knee over toe angle
• Pelvic drop
• Gait width
• Rear foot eversion
• Trunk lean
• Rotation
• Foot instabilities

Push-Off:

A weekend well spent learning and developing 🤓

I’m currently working towards my Level 4 Strength & Conditioning Coach qualification with , and this weekend was packed with hands-on learning.

From sprinting and jumping mechanics to lifting and performance coaching, it’s been a practical, informative and enjoyable two days 🏋🏼‍♂️

Great to be surrounded by coaches who are passionate about improving performance and continuing to develop their craft.

Always learning. Always improving. 🤓

Let’s analyse this one together… 🤓🧐

The devil is often in the detail.

At first glance, this runner looks smooth, efficient and strong. But when we slow the footage down and really zoom in… we start to see subtle instabilities.

Now here’s the important part 👇

Running isn’t one movement — it’s thousands of repeated strides.

If a small instability happens once, it’s irrelevant.
If it happens 5,000–10,000 times in a session? That’s a persistent, unwanted load travelling through muscles, tendons and joints.

Over time, that’s what holds runners back.
That’s what creates niggles.
That’s what limits performance.
