Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is one of the largest acute hospital trusts in the country treating over half a million patients each year. We provide comprehensive secondary care and specialist services to a local population of 675,000 people across South East Hampshire. We also offer some speciality services to a wider catchment of around two million people. Our population is characterised by its diversity โ€“ the rural and the urban, areas of wealth juxtaposed with real pockets of deprivation, and gaps in life expectancy. Most of our services are provided at Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, but we also offer a range of outpatient and diagnostic facilities closer to patientsโ€™ homes in community hospital sites and at local treatment centres throughout South East Hampshire including St Mary's Treatment Centre, Gosport War Memorial Hospital and Petersfield Community Hospital. We continue to ask visitors to join our staff in wearing a mask in some areas of QA Hospital due to a rise in respiratory illnesses, including flu, as well as norovirus. This helps protect our patients, visitors, and staff.

Masks are encouraged in:

โ€ข Emergency Department
โ€ข Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)
โ€ข Acute Medical Unit (AMU)
โ€ข Any other areas identified by ward staff

Masks are available at the doors, and patients and visitors can wear one across all our services if they prefer.

Please do not visit if you have flu symptoms, vomiting or diarrhoea. If you need medical advice and aren't sure which is the right service, contact NHS 111 online or by phone. Where possible, please attend appointments alone.

Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe. ๐Ÿ’™

If you attend ED with a minor illness or injury, you may be signposted to more appropriate services.

Please only attend ED for life-threatening emergencies. For other urgent medical needs, your local urgent treatment centre (UTC) can often see you more quickly for less severe conditions. โฑ๏ธ
