Portsmouth SENDIASS young people Giving children and young people with additional learning needs/disabilities information and support to be involved in decisions about their education

If you're a young person living in Portsmouth with special educational needs (SEN) and/or disability we can help you. We provide free, confidential and impartial advice and support on all matters relating to SEN and disabilities including social care and health issues.

27/01/2026

Portsmouth’s flagship event for special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is back for 2026, this time at the City of Portsmouth College (Tangier Road Campus).

Moving Forward brings together more than 40 exhibitors offering guidance on employment, training, health, and community support for young people and adults aged 14–25 with SEND. The event is taking place on Friday 20 March from 9:30am - 3pm.

Families can explore a wide range of services, meet local providers, and discover new opportunities, all in one welcoming, accessible space. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance for free via Eventbrite.

The event is designed to be inclusive and accessible for young people with varying levels of need, including those attending mainstream schools, special schools, or currently not in education.

It's ! We're joining Rare Disease Day in raising awareness.

There are more than 6,000 known rare conditions, and there are thought to be many more that are yet to be discovered. Doctors rarely see children with these conditions, making it harder to recognise them.

That's why we've put together our parent guide "Living Without A Diagnosis". Download it here 👉 https://s.mtrbio.com/haxlrxdqrk 🔗

If your child has been diagnosed with a rare condition, it can sometimes be a bit harder to get the information you need. But there is plenty of advice to be found online and from other parents, and there are things you can do to make sure you’re getting the right support for your family. Take a look at our dedicated webpage here 👉 https://s.mtrbio.com/aqlhnhtmnh 🔗

Other great sources of support for rare conditions are Genetic Alliance UK, and SWAN UK (Syndromes Without A Name)
