Move With Awareness I am an Essential Somatic Movement Teacher. I Help people to move more freely, with awareness and without pain using gentle somatic movements.

I offer group classes & 1:1 Sessions, both available online or Face to Face. Based in Portsmouth, UK I am an Essential Somatic Movement Teacher and work with people to help them out of pain and move more freely. Somatic movements are gentle and suitable for anyone to do. Over the last decade working as a clinical massage therapist I came to realise that self-care was the most important component for clients addressing their pain and remaining pain-free. While clinical massage can be very effective for relieving chronic pain in the short term, it doesn’t often solve the problem in the long term. This is because chronic pain and stiffness is often caused by postural habits which have accumulated over time in a response to the way we live our lives. We are usually unable to break these habits as we are unaware we are doing them; the brain and nervous system are no longer connecting with the muscles efficiently. Change only occurs when this connection between the brain and muscles is re-established. This can be achieved through Somatic Movements.

Somatic Movements can be done anywhere. All you need is some time free of distractions.
Somatic Movements can be done seated, standing as well as lying down.
No specific equipment is require apart from a cushion or blanket as necessary. The movements are suitable for anyone of any age.
If you can't yet lie on the floor they can be done in a bed.

Do you suffer from back pain? Have you tried lots of different things but they never work or the benefits don't last long? Then perhaps it is time to try something different. Somatic Movements are gentle movements that are extremely effective in easing back pain for good.

The reason is because they work by communicating with the nervous system. Muscular pain is caused by tight muscles. The brain and nervous system control muscle movement but if the muscular system and the nervous system are not talking to each other then tight muscles will remain tight causing you pain.
