Vicki's Thai Yoga Massage

Vicki's Thai Yoga Massage A powerful, full body & mind treatment to help overcome stress, injury & pain A brief history....

TYM originated in Northern India over 2500 years ago.

It was founded by Jivaka Kumarbhacca, also referred to as Dr Shivago, physician and close friend of the Buddha. Jivaka became renowned as a healer and aptly named 'the father of medicine' in Buddhist tradition and his teachings spread across to Thailand with the migration of Buddhist monks and nuns from India around the 2nd or 3rd Century BC. This knowledge of massage and medicine was originally passed down orally to students and remained undocumented until the 17th Century, when partial scriptures were carved in stone to be placed on the walls of the Wat Pho Temple in Bangkok, which is now a school for TYM. What does TYM involve....

Developed as a body and mind healing system, TYM isn't just about moving body parts, it uses focus and the art of moving energy around the body. There are over 72,000 energy lines running throughout the body, however focus is predominantly given to 10 lines (Sip Sen) which offer access to the most important acupressure points. These points are believed to be the windows into the human body that enable a balanced exchange of energy between body and universe. Obstruction in any of these channels causes poor supply of Prana (life energy) which can result in pain and sickness. TYM stimulates and promotes the free flow of Prana, opening the areas that become blocked and restoring health & well being into harmonious balance. The physical application of Metta (loving kindness) given during treatment creates a powerful release of stress and tension and an increase in vitality as it deepens the connection between mind, body & spirit. Instead of gliding the hands and arms over the muscles, as in other forms of massage, TYM uses slow, fluid pressure to sink deep into the tissue and work acupressure points around the body. The therapist will use body weight in a series of yoga style techniques to move, stretch and twist the client whilst positioned on their back, front, side and sitting up. Treatment is accomplished using slow, focused, meditative motion and is considered one of the most unique and powerful healing arts in modern times. So what are the benefits....

The unique style of movement and connection of TYM makes it one of the best therapeutic massage treatment available for relieving deep & superficial muscular tension, increasing flexibility, improving circulation, boosting the immune system and balancing the body's overall flow of energy. Initially affecting the physical body, it can then gradually reach a deeper level of heeling through the emotions, thoughts and senses, bringing realignment and strength to core energy. Who's it for....

TYM is suitable for anyone and everyone, but especially beneficial to those suffering with chronic pain or sports injuries. It is especially effective for numbness or loss of feeling in conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, or after a stroke. It can also benefit those suffering from:
Headaches
Knee pain
Back pain
Shoulder pain
Neck pain
Hip pain
Leg pain
Premenstrual tension
TYM can be simply be enjoyed by those looking for deep relaxation and a way to de-stress from modern life. Sessions will also suit those with limited time or working professionals as treatments are performed without the use of oils and therefore no oily residue over the body, which offers the flexibility and convenience of going/returning immediately to any activity. As a massage that is performed with the client fully clothed, TYM allows the option of being performed in a variety of settings and with others, be it a friend, relative or partner.
