John Bernard live at Central Library

Coventry Poet Laureate John Bernard will be performing some of his powerful and socially conscious work at Central Library on Monday 19 August at 1pm

Bernard has become a standout performer in the world of poetry and music. He has taken to the stage at some of the UK's biggest events and venues, including Shambala Festival, Godiva Festival, BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, and Symphony Hall with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He has also created work for brands and organizations such as Formula 1, BBC, Flannels, TBN UK, Royal Shakespeare Company, Belgrade Theatre, BBC bitesize and many more.

Come along and immerse yourself in his vivid, rhythmic and emotionally charged words

This event is part of the Beyond the Bassline: 500 Years of Black British Music exhibition with British Library and the Living Knowledge Network on at Central Library until Sunday 25 August 2024

So sorry the Painting for Pleasure course we are starting on Tuesday LTB Showrooms is now fully booked. We cannot accept drop-ins on the day as places are limited.

But we have exciting news!

On October 10th we are starting to run a series of workshops led by professionals in their field illustrators, painters, and photographers.

These workshops are for creative people who want to learn what it takes to make it in the arts and pick up some of specialist skills.

We have another fun filled festive Saturday this week.

Escape Arts' In Stitches - Nuneaton & Stratford Staff Team attended masterclasses with Artist, Daniel Lismore at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum, Coventry to produce bespoke mannequins inspired by the 'Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Already Taken' exhibition. The exhibition was developed in partnership with the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum Community Engagement Programme. The mannequins on display were created by:

Very excited to announce that we have partnered with our friends at Sitting Rooms of Culture to showcase selected artworks made by our participants and facilitators at Coventry Market during October.

With this tour, the selected artists and artworks highlight what it means being a carer and looking after somebody in your life, what it’s like living with long-term conditions and how dealing with the unpredictability of recovering is affecting those living with Long COVID.

We be sharing more details about the artists and their stories over the upcoming month, alongside fabulous creative workshops on offer by Sitting Rooms of Culture.
