RMD Warwick

RMD Warwick Resuscitation for Medical Disciplines (RMD) provides a European Resuscitation Council (ERC) endorsed course to teach basic life support (BLS) to students.

The course is led by Warwick Medical School students. RMD Warwick is a BLS, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid course. This course is primarily for first-year students on the MBChB programme, but remaining spaces are available for students in other years and courses at Warwick. The course is fully endorsed by the ERC and the Resuscitation Council UK. Developed in cooperation with RMD Birmingham, who have been running the course since 1995, the course aims to teach skills essential for medical professionals such as:

- Assessment of the unconscious patient
- Management of the unconscious, breathing patient: recovery position
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Use of an AED

This course is taught by Warwick medical students and aligns with the ethos of peer-led teaching and learning at Warwick Medical School.
