Hi
We have finally launched our lottery. The proceeds from the lottery will go towards funding school age children in Coventry and Warwickshire to receive assessments if they are struggling in education. If schools do not have the funding, we will step in and help. This can only be done by your support. £1 a ticket.
Thank You

We will aim to give people a better understanding of autism, ADHD and Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).

This will be gained through 1-1 appointments, weekly podcasts about different topics of autism, adhd and SpLD and Group sessions.

Parents, carers, children, teachers etc can access the support and advice service by booking an appointment for a 1-1 or a group session.

A diagnosis is not needed to receive support and advice from this service.

Coventry & Warwickshire Area.
We will donate monies to fund school age children living in Coventry to receive an assessment for SpLD, Autism or ADHD if they are struggling within education, academically or behavioral.

We will hold a weekly lottery to raise funds for school age children who need assessments for Autism, Adhd or SpLD.

Stop the Schools Bill - don't prosecute when children can't, not won't go to school!

“ADHD is really very strongly genetic, so it’s extremely common for parents to say, ‘I was just like this as a kid,’ or, ‘I see him. I see myself in him.’ ” says William Stixrud, founder of the Stixrud Group.

Gillian is a seven-year-old girl who cannot sit in school. She continually gets up, gets distracted, flies with thoughts, and doesn't follow lessons. Her teachers worry about her, punish her, scold her, reward the few times that she is attentive, but nothing. Gillian does not know how to sit and cannot be attentive.

When she comes home, her mother punishes her too. So not only does she Gillian have bad grades and punishment at school, but she also suffers from them at home.

One day, Gillian's mother is called to school. The lady, sad as someone waiting for bad news, takes her hand and goes to the interview room. The teachers speak of illness, of an obvious disorder. Maybe it's hyperactivity or maybe she needs a medication.

During the interview an old teacher arrives who knows the little girl. He asks all the adults, mother and colleagues, to follow him into an adjoining room from where she can still be seen. As he leaves, he tells Gillian that they will be back soon and turns on an old radio with music.

As the girl is alone in the room, she immediately gets up and begins to move up and down chasing the music in the air with her feet and her heart. The teacher smiles as the colleagues and the mother look at him between confusion and compassion, as is often done with the old. So he says:

"See? Gillian is not sick, Gillian is a dancer!"

He recommends that her mother take her to a dance class and that her colleagues make her dance from time to time. She attends her first lesson and when she gets home she tells her mother:

"Everyone is like me, no one can sit there!"

In 1981, after a career as a dancer, opening her own dance academy and receiving international recognition for her art, Gillian Lynne became the choreographer of the musical "Cats."

Hopefully all “different” children find adults capable of welcoming them for who they are and not for what they lack.

Long live the differences, the little black sheep and the misunderstood. They are the ones who create beauty in this world.

What are some of the greatest examples of presence of mind?

Teacher addresses a student and asks: “How many kidneys do we have?"

“Four!", The student responds.

“Four? Haha,” The teacher was one of those who took pleasure in picking on his students' mistakes and demoralizing them.

“Bring a bundle of grass, because we have an ass in the room," the teacher orders a front bencher.

“And for me a coffee!”, the student added.

The teacher was furious and expelled the student from the room.

The student was, by the way, the humorist Aparicio Torelly Aporelly (1895-1971), better known as the "Baron de Itararé".

On his way out of the classroom, the student still had the audacity to correct the furious teacher:

"You asked me how many kidneys ‘we have’. We have four: two of mine and two of yours. ‘We have’ is an expression used for the plural. Enjoy the grass.”

Life demands much more understanding than knowledge. Sometimes people, because they have a little more knowledge or ‘believe’ that they have it, feel they have the right to underestimate others.

Workshop

The workshops will give you an understanding of what struggles children are facing when they are at school.

Some people describe executive function as “the CEO of the brain.” That’s because these skills allow us to set goals, plan and get things done. When children struggle with executive skills, it impacts them in school and in everyday life.

Trouble with executive skills isn’t a diagnosis or learning disability on its own. But it’s a common problem for kids with learning and attention issues. All kids with ADHD have issues with executive function. And many kids with specific learning difficulties have weaknesses in some executive skills.

The three main areas of executive function are:
