The biggest thing holding people back from where they want to be is with limiting beliefs and attaching labels.
We take away pair own power by attaching ourselves to these thought processes and putting ourselves in boxes which, over time become extremely difficult to get out of.
Challenge your thought processes, your bias and those deeply engrained beliefs.
Here are some examples:
I don’t have the time.
I don’t have the required skills.
I’m not good at exercise.
I’m not smart enough, not pretty enough not thin enough to pursue the things I want in life.
I am not good enough.
These things are things we make up in our own heads. and stop us from achieving things. They serve no purpose except to cause stagnation and misery. They make us believe that there is something inherently wrong with us.
Confront these ideas and realise your thoughts are not truths, reflect upon your patterns of thinking. To create long term, sustainable change often the thing we need to work on the most is our tricky brains 🧠.

Prior to my mid 20s I did very little exercise aside from walking to a beach or bar.
In my early twenties I chased hedonistic escapes where my worries would be pushed aside with a new destination, cigarette or binge drinking.
Whilst I have been through a lot since I turned 25 I have slowly learned how to create healthier coping mechanism, walking training, getting good sleep.
However during the pandemic I pushed this to the extreme and revelled in isolation as it allowed me tunnel vision to study, exercise and flirt with disordered eating.
I became to obsessed with development, there was always something that needed fixing.
I realised that I was no longer the outgoing, happy person I used to be I was hyper focused on work, studying and my routine.
I decided to start a sport to give me back some of my social skills, stopped kicking myself if I didn’t reach a step target or eat my 5 a day.
But regardless of that I still maintained decent physical activity levels, still ate well and cultivated better relationships.
I get frustrated sometimes because I’m often seen as a success story of fitness but what people don’t realise is the proceeds. The constant effort. Always feeling like you’ve got to work harder than everybody else.
For a time a lot of people heard my story and put me on a pedestal as the pinnacle of success. What happens when things go right. It put me under a huge boulder of pressure and perfectionism.
I am far from perfect, I just try hard. Everyday.
Being terrible at a very technical sport has made me realise imperfection is sometimes fun.

I’ve just turned 30 and my body feels better than it did at 20, I’m a strong believer that by taking care of yourself physically and mentally you can feel your best at any age.
I love the feeling of progression which is why I am always trying new movements and sports. I am not afraid of failure as I have always learned from it.
The amount of time people waste afraid to try things, to enter the gym, to do something they’re not good at takes you further from ever reaching what it is you want to achieve.
I will happily always be a student in whatever it is I endeavour, because I only value the opinions of myself and people I care about.
Stop being afraid and start taking action.
I am taking 1:1 and group clients at JD gyms Coventry, if you need a helping hand to take the first steps, I can support you.

I decided to go back to my roots (commercial gym life) and will be now taking on group and 1:1 clients out of JD Gyms Coventry.
We’ve also had a successful week who’ve adapted well to the change of gyms, we started the week off with a couple of strength assessments which everybody smashed 💃🏻.
I have also changed my masters to my original choice (physiotherapy and leadership) which starts in a couple of weeks.
As a fitness professional it’s been challenging working through the pandemic, so I’m excited to work in a busy, welcoming environment again and meet and help lots of new people again.
If you want circuits, meal plans, restrictive diets, glute kick backs on the stair master or to do 1000 banded reps of f**k all, I’m not the PT for you. If you want to create realistic, sustainable change, increase your adherence to exercise and take control of the things that hold you back, then we’d be a great match.

I have got to where I am today not because of help, luck or fortune but hardships, growth, graft and adversity.
I don’t set resolutions once per year, I set them weekly and I commit to putting the effort in to making those things happen. It’s a continuous process.
I am strong and I am resilient, hard times do not last and having the strength and courage to keep getting up and working towards the life you want to create for yourself has got me where I am today.
Achieving your goals requires struggle, commitment and discipline. It’s not easy.
You can wrap yourself in cotton wool and play victim or commit to becoming the person you want to be living the life you want to lead.
I have some personal goals I want to achieve which will be by no means handed to me.
Instead of sitting around waiting for 2022 to be the year of change, consider that in order for that to happen you must be the one to change first.

I am feeling good after a good Christmas and full of gratitude and happiness.
I will be taking on clients face to face again in January going back to my roots which I will reveal soon 👀
If you want to be given a calorie plan or sweat for an hour doing pointless exercises I am not the trainer for you.
If you want to improve the way you feel about yourself, develop a better relationship with food and exercise or improve your health then I am the right person for you.
Plus, I promise I’ll never ask you for a photo of you in your underwear 🥴
