⚠️ Important info about the recent meningitis outbreak ⚠️

There’s been a serious meningitis outbreak in Kent affecting students and young people. Sadly, there have already been deaths, and cases are linked to the MenB strain.

What you should know:• MenB is now the most common type in the UK• Many teens & young adults were NOT vaccinated against it• It spreads through close contact (kissing, sharing drinks, etc.)

💉 Check your vaccines:• MenACWY (usually given in school) does NOT cover MenB• MenB vaccine is available but many older teens missed it

👀 Watch for symptoms:Fever, headache, stiff neck, sensitivity to light, vomiting, rash — symptoms can get serious FAST.

✅ What to do:• Check your vaccination status (NHS app/GP)• Don’t ignore symptoms — seek help urgently• Be mindful in shared spaces (uni, nights out, etc.)

Please share — this could help someone spot symptoms early and save a life.

Vaccines protect your child from chickenpox, measles, whooping cough and other serious illnesses. 🧒

To ensure your child hasn’t missed any vaccinations, check their red book or speak to your GP practice.
